I was having a chat with a guy who lives 4 doors down from me and he reckons he knows someone who has a very old audi with a rotary engine in it from way back in the day...
My question is....what the hell could it be? Ive never seen or heard anything about a rotary powered audi....
Anyone any ideas?
is he thinking of an RO80 (NSU)

Could be the old Auto Union 1000 ?,it does sometimes sound like a rotor on idle...........brilliant 2 stroke sound :Typing

Hence the Auto Union badge .......4 rings, later to become the Audi badge..:cheers
hmmmm...so is a rotor or not? (your original post wasnt clar to me oldone!)
Audi actually did do some prototypes with the rotary in them when they took over NSU,that was in the early 80\'s,but nothing came of it,they developed their inline 5 cylinder engine instead and as everyone knows,4 wheel drive.

If it\'s an Auto Union 1000 it\'ll have a three-cylinder two stroke engine.
