Title: Tips for fitting the door cards back on
Post by: RemarkLima on January 05, 2007, 05:13:19 PM
Hi all,

After having my passenger wing mirror knocked off I\'ve fitted a new one now (thanks Gary) but was having a complete \'mare fitting the door card back on... I can see the 2 pins on the top of the door, which are the main cause of my chagrin!

Has anyone got any tips for getting it back on? Do I need to push the bottom section on before pushing it down?

Any tips apprecaited before I go and attack it for another hour tonight ;)

Cheers,
Mark

i had a similar ngithmare when i was doing my passenger door card! The problem iwas having was that the clips wouldnt engage properly in the holes and would have a tendency to pop out after afew seconds...i sued the clips from a set of corrolla door cards to solve that...
easiest way from thre is to screw in the screw sort of in the middle of the door card towards the back... and then go for the pop in clips...then i did the screw inside the elec window controls last

Make sure youv\'e removed the door triangles either side of the window on the inside then as said above hang the card on the strip of metal infront of the window - next put the screw into the hole near the heater vent and screw that in, gentle pull on the door card to make sure this has screwed in correctly otherwise repeat hanging the doorcard again! Once that ones in you can easily clip and screw in the remaining points.

Make sure you have all the Clips out of the door before you refit it, its comon for at least one to come out of the Door pad and stay in the Door shell (if you refit it like this is does\'nt sit flush when it goes back)

Also make sure the clear membrain is not punctured before you refit the Door Pad, this will cause the car to mist up alot easyer when the weather goes bad.

Perfect! That\'s the top handy tip!!!

Cheers for the other hints, all together now... And amazingly... No bit\'s left over ;)

Except lost the little metal spring bit behind the front triangle bit... D\'oh! Bit of electrical tape cured that tho :D

Thanks again!

Get some WD 40 on the window guide inside the door (have to remove the doorcard and peel back a bit of the plastice membrane I\'m afraid)! then move the window up and done a few times, solved my sticky window!

Mine slows down a bit too... Bugger, off with the door card again ;)

Would it not be better to use some grease in the runners?
