Does anyone know of any decent books on the techincal side of the rotary engine?
I\'ve got the basic principals of it figured out now, but I\'m interested in the deeper technical aspects. Particularly in how they make their power, etc.

Hi Tony,

All the ones i know of are old and out of print. I\'ve got a copy of the Racing Beat catalogue that\'s got a few tips and tricks in. You\'re welcome to borrow it if your passing near Manchester at any point.

Cheers Steve, hope you are well. I did wonder if you were on these forums.
I\'ve seen a few out of print books on Amazon so I may stick them on a \'wish list\' and see what happens.
What does the racing beat stuff talk about - is it specific tuning info? I\'m quite interested in a broad understanding of the engine (not even specific to Mazda)

Not bad at all mate, although I am rebuilding my engine again! How\'s things with you? I was wondering if it was the same TonyC but the jgf link you posted up the other day confirmed it. How is everyone over there? Are you guys planning a ring trip this year? I wouldn\'t mind tagging along if I\'m roadworthy again by then.

The RB book talks about porting, clearancing for high revs, water jacket mods for extra cooling etc. I can\'t remember specifics as it\'s a while since I read it. I\'ll dig it out tonight. There was a decent looking one on Amazon but it never seems to be in stock anymore,

It\'s this one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wankel-Rotary-Engine-History/dp/0786411775/sr=8-1/qid=1167927083/ref=sr_1_1/202-5274711-8971819?ie=UTF8&s=books).

4-6 weeks lead time though.

Steve

Yes, I did see that on Amazon and wondered if it was suitable. Thanks.

Yes, all well - as are the rest of the chaps. As you can see I\'ve fancied a big change in racing car! We should be off to the \'ring again this year. I\'d imagine an easter trip that hardly anyone will go on except DJ, and a big one in the Autumn. Keep in touch and I\'ll let you know when the big trip is planned.

I\'ll definitely be up for the Autumn one.

That is a bit of a change from the MG isn\'t it? Any idea when the Oulton round will be, I\'ll be able to make that one at the very least.

I have the history of the Wankel Rotary engine.  It\'s a good book but I think the technical info your after wont be there.  Its a more of from conception to production line history with all the goings on in between - still a very good book though and deffinately worth a full read.
