Title: My early xmas stocking present!
Post by: <--rYaN--> on December 16, 2003, 06:45:53 PM
Got a lovely illuminated Rx8 gear knob today from Mazda, spent a good hour fitting it and splicing the right wires together, and i LOVE it, very comfy, very heavy making shifting that bit easier. AND, its LIGHTS UP! :D

You get a load of wiring, sticky foam bits, and a gaitor with it:

Yep, straight from my local mazda garage, was here in about 3 days, i "think" they all light up, well the 5 speed ones you order anyway. Just ask them for a 5 speed black rx8 gear knob and they\'re fine.

Needs a little bit of retro wiring as the plugs you get are for the rx8 but its pretty simple taking it from the ash tray light :)

oh, forgot to mention it was £80, for once we get something cheaper than the US :D (they have to pay $250 :eek: )

£80 is top dollar for a gearknob, but somehow it seems worth it.  I dont have an ashtray light though I dont think as I have the non-smoker option but we\'ll see.

Have to see how cash is going already spent far too much on the car this month.  Bride seat and uprated IC to go on this weekend...  :rolleyes: :D

Si, it feels very good, its not too big or small just sits nicely in the palm of your hand, i cant really explain it. The leather is comfy, not hard and not too soft that your going to knacker it in a week, im very happy with it, mind you, anything better than trying to drive with the freezing cold metal one i used to have :rolleyes: :D

If I could just combine that cool glowing gear-knob with my carbon-fibre Mazdaspeed one it\'d be perfect!

Maybe best off getting your friend over here to buy one for you.
