Post by: E.B.King on January 03, 2007, 11:03:32 AM
Hi guys, have searched the site and looked on Google, juz  wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. Looking for some info on engines e.g 13b, 13b turbo 20b\'s etc. Just wanted to read  up on what models they came on and stuff like that!

The number in the engine designation relates to the capacity:

12A ~ 1200cc swept volume two-rotor
13B ~ 1300cc swept volume two-rotor
20B ~ 2000cc swept volume three-rotor (13B with an extra rotor)

From memory, N/A 13Bs can be found in RX-5s, late model 1st gen RX-7, 2nd gen RX-7 in both N/A and single turbo form, 3rd gen twin-turbo, Eunos Cosmo and (as Renesis) N/A in the RX-8.

20B is usually found in Eunos Cosmos or at your local engine builder :).

thing is the 13bs came in different versions which are not interchangeable

main engines are as follows:
10a
12a
13b
13bT
13bRE
13bREW
20b

10a was found in some of the early rotaries (Cosmo 110S, early R100 i believe)
12a  later R100, RX2, RX3, RX4, Luce, and gen 1 RX7 (except the late model RX7 GSL SE)
12aT Gen 1 RX7 Turbo and mid 80s Cosmo
13b RX7 GSL SE, 2nd Gen RX7 (1986 - 91), Cosmo AP, REPU, Roadpacer, later RX-4, RX-5
13bT Gen 2 RX7 Turbo II (series IV - 86-88 and series V - 89 -91)
13bRE Cosmo
13bREW 3rd Gen RX7 TT (91 - 02)
20b JC Cosmo

Perfect cheers guys! And i take it that the main reason people do the 20b swap is for more power! Thanx again!

Most people do the 20b Swap for more Torque. 13b\'s are renown for the low Torque to Hp Figures (This is mainly becouse of the very short throw on the Crank.
