Yes, But i thought the UK cars where only sold for a limted time? Hence the low numbers? but then again maybe it was just they could\'nt sell them??

I was also told the Japaniess cars where quite alot cheaper? Uk cars being the best part of 30k? (but the UK ones where fully spec\'d the only thing to my Knolage that was an Option was Climate control).

I believe UK cars where sold from 1992 to 1995 (some may have been sold late and therefore registered in early 96, unless they where all pre registered)  124 is a number I keep hearing about how many official UK car\'s there where. They cost aprox £36,000 new before Mazda reduced the price down to the high 20\'s.

Mine is a 1995 on an M plate in red.

am i right in thinking that because mine is an early 1992 plate the emissions test is left stiringent

Post by: Ricco_04 on January 01, 2007, 03:12:56 PM
Technicially no as its still pre june of 1995 which legally allows you the more lax limits.  Ask the tester to see what models come up on the computer. 3 came up when I had a look and mine still fell into the more lax emissions test.

Urm no.... Jap cars are very basic but alot more powerfull out the box.

Look at the Option list. The UK car only had 1 option (Climate control) which is VERY!! Rare.

The UK car is a Mix of all the good bits of the jap cars, Twin oil coolers and stuff like that but whats odd they had both Surroof and Air con, Black Leather was Standard, i don\'t know about yours but the later ones had the Black surounds on the MPH Clocks (kind of looks like an R2 clock set up), I may be wrong but i dont think there was an Auto UK car?, I know there is no One model in the Jap range that is the same as the UK spec out of the Box so the UK car was put together just for us.

Unfortunatly though they still did\'nt wax oil them properly so every Uk car i\'ve seen close up has been showing signs of Rust and its getting more rare to see a Uk car under 100k.

There is a Reason for buying a Jap car (as i have done) there - ten years of our weather.

There are a few other differences like a pre cat (which most people get shot of anyway!)  There is also something different about the intake but I cant remember what (like 3rd throttle body or something - Carl had mentioned it on here before)

Also had a proper mounting for the front numberplate and the foglights where right next to the numberplate as opposed to adding one later.

The rear middle brake light was not plummed in although can be done.  They also had a 3 liter washer bottle in the boot rather than by the near side passanger headlight.  They also came with cruise control as standard (don\'t think this was an optional extra)

There is also other stuff which appeared on other models like the ashtray rather than the arm rest and the lockable storage buckets rather than the seats.

Don\'t know wether we did or didn\'t have the autobox

Anyway i have a 1992 Type-R with aircon, leather seats, seats at the back insted of buckets, ABS, powerstering, electric windows, electric door mirrors, Twin oil coolers and all the rest of the proper goodies.

Oh and im underneath every month 2 keep it in good condition and its spotless under there, almost like new.

Just me but if i has to pechased one all over again it would be an import as they have never been subject to salt on the roads.

Oh and yes mine has the black surround around the clocks, kind of makes it a little deeper.

Wasn\'t being picky, I thought I was helping :2Confused

The washer bottle has another use as its in a different location because you can have them both installed (ie UK & Jap) and use one to hold the water for your WI.

To know whether it is a UK one or not, check the VIN, the number should be: JMZFD13B200****** (* = the unique part of the VIN number).

It is a different VIN format to that of other continents (i.e. Jap import).

As far as I was aware, the UK ones weren\'t sold in varients, so if someone has a TypeRS, then it is probably an import. But key thing is, check the VIN.
Title: Uk FD owners
Post by: Grizzly on January 02, 2007, 10:23:12 PM
The uk car was only sold in FULL spec (every thing on it) You could never buy a Jap car with the same spec as the UK car.

You can tell a UK car by the fog lights in the rear Bumper and the Proper Number  plate holder on the front.

Then if your questioning why a UK car is Better than a Jap one get an Insurance qoute ;) When i was running the UK car it was £200 less to insure then my Jap import (same year/value etc Plus i\'m now a year older)

Yup, I like how they spec\'d them up then added another cat etc which droped the power down, So not only are Heavy there less powerfull (out the box)

Then you wack on a MASIVE!!! Price tag. :(

Yeah, also the UK car is mapped for Normal 95ron fuel rather than Jap 101Ron stuff which also makes a difference.  Boost was the same as the Jap spec cars with 8bit ecu.

Hi

Mine is 96 RB Bathurst, white, 16 bit ECU ( it was till I changed to Apexi ECU )and I believe a touch more bhp in comparison to UK models..2 bucket seat, no sunroof, middle break light …cat only in the mid pipe which also made them a touch faster..

It has absolutely no rust any where…no salt in Japan…

Michaelb

Not me, but I very nearly had it.
Nearly bought it from a dealer out near Parley Cross (near Hurn airport).
Unfortunately I couldn\'t raise enough funds as I was broke from getting
my pilot\'s license. I do remember thinking it was a thing of beauty though.
He wanted £11,000 for it if I remember right and this was late 2000 or
early 2001.

I got me a 93K UK spec car. Not so sure about the rust comments as mine is completely rust free althought the paint work has seen a little too much sun in parts.  There still a few low mileage ones around, mine for example 34,500.

Mine is a 92-93 Montego Blue one.

Decat stainless exhaust and RX8 alloys. Apart from that standard till I can get the precat swapped for a jap downpipe and an Apexi.

Know what you\'re saying about rust on the UK one\'s there\'s a bit showing underneat but have treated and waxoyled so should be fine.

Think mine\'s showing 96,000. Had a new engine under warranty though before I had it and new turbos. Still had Mazda warranty at time of purchase although I didn\'t continue it at a cost of £400 a year!

I met you once at the Shell garage on that big roundabout with Sainsburys and BP just off it. You were in your RED FD at the time, think it was standard except filter and exhaust. I saw you again just outside Pizza Hut with a few more mods on the car - was looking good when i last saw it.
