Title: Help, me power not 100 %
Post by: Jimpy on December 15, 2003, 06:51:20 PM
Can someone give me a few hints on the following please. On acceleration after about 4000 rpm sometimes the power seems a little bumpy... almost as if I\'m losing pressure or something. Then other times it just goes like a rocket ! Have checked all the pipes e.t.c and can\'t see anything off, loose or blowing air ?

And my engaging 2nd gear is often a bit clunky but nothing too bad, could it be on the way out or is this quite common ?

I love the car though, bloody great !

have you got a boost gauge it does seem a common propblem to have a lack of ooff on 2nd turbo usually, seemingly, from a loose pipe or leak but there\'s plent to choose from on that front i guess (http://burns.thefinaldimension.org/contrib/Bizkit/ghost.gif)

I had a prob that sounds almost exactly the same, when i put my foot down around 4.5k rpm sometimes it flew sometimes nothing seemed to happen. After checking all the solenoids were doing what they should be i found a TINY little crack in a rubber hose that was leaking boost, so check these first would be a safe bet! (or check your boost gauge if you have one!) :)

Hi, thanks. I will check around the pipes again. Would I just feel air blowing from somewhere and do I need to be feeling around the pipes when revs are quite high ?

No boost gauge on it so it\'s difficult to tell.

Any recomendations for someone in the Cardiff area to have a little look over my baby... ?

Thanks for any advice,

J

Carb cleaner can be useful.

You have the engine running and spray the hoses/connections.  If there\'s a leak you\'ll get a sudden drop in revs.

You can also use a cook\'s torch for this, just remember not to light it 1st
