Title: Rear ABS wheel speed sensor
Post by: Bone on December 28, 2006, 02:52:13 PM
Just thinking out loud. Would you be able to put a nearside sensor onto the driver\'s side and the ABS would still work? Or would it get confused as when you go forward it would think you were going backwards on that side? Does the sensor even know which way the wheel is rotating?

Answers on a postcard..............

My ABS warning light comes on and goes out like it should when I start the car and then comes on and stays on when I start moving which would indicate a wheel speed sensor is buggered. A specialist had a look at it when I was having some other things done and they said it was a rear one (they couldn\'t remember which one for deffo but said the driver\'s side one). They didn\'t charge me for this by the way!
I changed the rear driver\'s side sensor(with the correct part) and warning light still came on.
I then tried the old driver\'s side sensor (thinkin it might be ok) in place of the nearside sensor, but the warning light still comes on.
Basically I was trying my luck with the incorrect part to see if it made a difference as I can\'t get hold of the correct part off anyone as people are closed. :Santa

Not sure mate, I think the light comes on if the wheel speed sensors detect a 5mph difference between opposite wheels or if the wheel speed sensors are bad. Just guessing though. :D Awaiting :flamed

They are different polars nearside and offside so your light will stay on once at certain speed.
I had this but bought 1 from Tim at RX Motors. Sorted it out a treat.
All the best with it.

Cheers bud, exactly the info I was after. I\'ll give RX Motors a buzz in the new year.

Cheers
