Title: Solenoid valves. HELP
Post by: JiM B on December 28, 2006, 11:59:05 AM
I\'m in the middle of replacing the vac hoses with new silicone once, however I’ve gone and broke one of the solenoid valve vac line connectors :Hammer .

The solenoid valve that is broken is located under the plenum just behind the vacuum chamber. They are in a pair (looking from the front of the car it\'s the right hand one) and are green, they were bolted directly onto the plenum with 2 10mm bolts I believe they control the second turbo boost. Hope we know which ones I’m going on about?

Does anyone have one lying around I can buy?

Thanks.
Jim.

I assume your talking about the ones that you can see without taking the plenum off and getting into the rats nest, if you are they are turbo pre controll and wategate controll.

Try any of the tuners above someone should be able to help.

Those are the ones.

I\'ve tried calling a few of the supporting vendors but they all seem to be closed until the New Year.

Since I’ve broken the right one of the pair I’ve now also broken the left one as well removing the vac hose, DOH!

Glad to hear you got it sorted Jim.

I find the best way to get those baked on VAC lines off is to heat them up for 4-5 seconds with a lighter flame, then use a very sharp razor blade to cut a slit in the rubber along the length of the nipple.  Then you should be able to twist the pipe loose very easily, breaking the seal which will then allow you to pull it off nice and easily :)

Ive done a good 5-6 rats nest jobs this way and never broken a nipple.

Definately the technic, Splitting the pipe is the safest, I cut a slit then insert a small screwdriver and rotate works everytime, the key is not to pull them.

Thanks guys for all you help.

The solenoid’s (the ones labelled \'I\' & \'J\' on the vac diagram) arrived this morning from Dragon. Have fitted and put all back together, working a treat. :)
