Title: Oil Cooler
Post by: Mave on December 27, 2006, 07:09:28 PM
Does anyone know if the oil cooler has got a thermostat? Had a longish drive today, which included about 30 minutes trundling at a steady 60mph, followed by town driving. Surprised to find I had 2 bar oil pressure at idle, which implies to me that the (single) oil cooler is doing its job too well in these cold conditions. Any thoughts? Normally want to warm the oil before thrashing it, how do I warm the oil if it\'s being cooled by 5C air?

Unless you have an after market pressure gauge I wouldnt worry too much, the OE unit is well know as being crap.

Yeah, I know the standard guage is known as being crap, but mine seems to at least be consistent; 4 bar at idle when just started, 2 bar after a minute or so, them 1 bar after a decent run. Just surprised to see such a high reading at idle with 80C water :(

I\'m sure I read somewhere that there is some sort of control for it - especially for a cold start and to get the oil up to temperature quicker?
