Title: Picked up my rx yesterday!!!
Post by: dreamers on December 25, 2006, 03:15:40 PM
as the rock in wwf says............FINALLY..............THE DREAMERS HAS HIS OWN RX7!!!

Anyway, to the rest of us I picked it up on Saturday after nearly 2 years of looking. Running 360bhp at the fly. Sounds great, drives great, it\'s a great car. Best xmas present I ever imagined.

Would like to thank ALL the members on here who helped answer my q.\'s over the past year whilst looking for a car.

Already had back end throw out in the wet, so yes these cars are a bit timid under power in the rain to the non experienced driver.

Also already got pulled over by police, i think they wanted to check out the car more than anything else (their excuse for stopping me was speeding which I wasnt, only giving it a bit of gas from the lights and they heard me coming so waited till I past and stopped me). Anyway, no harm done, they were fairly friendly.

Spent £80 in first 2 days on petrol - is that a record? ;)

Anyway - for those thinking of buying one - so far everything I have noticed is positive. It is a great car and if attention is something you want, I have never been in car which gets so many thumbs up from other motorists. People keep asking me to wind my windows down to talk about what it is and how fast it is blah blah.

I love it.

This is the one I bought - http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30517

Will post pics in due course.

How do I become a member here now I have one of these beautiful beasts.

Thanks guys.

Yeh 2 years cause i was v.fussy about wanting a c west kitted car (they seldom come up, and if they do often not cheaply!).

Everytime I go outside and see it, i still cant believe its mine. I still think rx7 is best lookin jap car by a country mile. I love the rareness of them, which really made them appeal to me, unlike the supra.

It does slip around tho, but the sound effects in a tunnel with the nurspec exhaust is phenomenal.

Absolutely great car. I was so tied between supra and the rx7, but after going out for a few hours in this, I know I made the right choice. :Giggle

nice one! the fd is an awesome car, especially for the money. and it looks so damn fine!  you are running exactly the same power as me.  do be careful on the roads-watch that 2nd turbo kicking in off roundabouts!

where abouts in london are you?

Hi Dreamers

Nice looking car, well done…I also still go mad over my RX RB Bathurst, I have had it 2 years now and I still admire and love the car as much as the first day I bought it..

Take is easy on wet…do not race on wet….any way the car is faster then 99.99 cars on the road…wait for dry summer conditions and smoke some Porsches then..

Regards,
Michaelb

Sorry guys been so busy driving around I forgot to take pics and get some up. I will try and get some up this weekend.

Curious a couple of q.s for you all -

1) I love the sound of it when its above 4500RPM. Is it bad to drive slowly on high revs to enjoy the sound or would i be doing the engine or tubros damage?

2) Also I give it approx 5-10 mins to warm up until the idle rpm drops to below 1000rpm and oil and water temps rise on defi guages? IS that ok or I dont really need to give it that long and I am overly doing it (I think I am annoying my neighbours!)?

Thanks in advance guys
