Post by: tailz on December 23, 2006, 09:41:53 PM
Might be a silly question, but here goes.............

One of my headlights had blown - how do you replace it......is it easy? I\'m not technically minded, so any explanations, please go easy on me.

Any advise welcome!!

When you say blown do you mean the motor that makes it pop-up?

Is this for an FD or FC?

Use the pop up switch, pop them up.
Remove all the screws( 4 ) that retain the wrap around plastic cover and the cover. Can be a bit of a twist and turn to get it out.
Now you are going to remove the headlight painted covers. There are two screws that are the retaining clips screws. Undo them but dont remove them all the way. DO NOT try and remove it.
Drop the lights back down. Pop the bonnet and put it up.
You will find two more screws retaining the rear of these lids undo them as above and pop the lights up again and then ease the lids off.
Drop the lights again, You can now see the rubber headlight cover, ease it off having first remover the pin plug, it does seal on the bulb pins so ease it off.
You will now be able to see the usual spring clip for retaining a headlight bulb, push down and to the left move to across and release the bulb.
Replace bulb each side. Dont touch the glass on the bulbs as you replace them.
Reverse above instructions.
You will need to mess about a bit to get the perfect fit of the light lids, up & down with the bonnet etc altering the 4 screws but you will get there.
Now if you find that any of the retaining four screw plastic screw clip things have broken on either lid when you take them off, don\'t panic post back in here and I will post up with pics on how I have repaired them so that they are more solid that the original fittings.
