Title: Interesting Idle Problem
Post by: tokyo_black on December 21, 2006, 09:45:22 AM
Hey all.

I am having some interesting idle problems.

Spec:

92, t04s single, smic, 1200cc injectrs, apexi, ported.

The car will start fine and when cold settle onto a 1500 rpm idle.

If I drive it about once its warm it will either comfortably sit at 1200rpm or 900 rpm.

But, the odd bit - if say i\'ve just slowed down to queue in traffic, the idle will swing up to about 1500-2000 rpm then back down to say 900rpm then back up to 1500-2000 rpm. It will do this *exactly* six times then return to perfect idle until the next time i slow down and sit in traffic!

You can count it each time and dead on six perfect idle?

Any thoughts?

There is a very small screw with a small spring, just above the oil filter but attached to throatle body, to the right of where the elbow is attached.  (i think its for to adjust throatle position) get a very small philips screw driver and turn clockwise slowly and see if it makes a difference??? turn either way  if you have to?  with the car running....it should sort it out.

Hey guys, I have pretty much sorted this issue by playing with the idle settings on the Apexi commander. I set one set slightly higher then the first set and now the idle only hunts twice at most.

Most of the time the idle doesn\'t hunt at all now which is really cool :)

With lights and heater my idle is at 1300rpm, and without lights or heater the idle is a dead throbbing 900rpm.

Dead chuffed with that, I will still have to hunt down the suspected vacuum leak but at least in the mean time it\'s not bothering me anymore!

Won\'t be a vacuum leak I think, but just needs the idle setting up properly on the throttle along with the ecu setting up right,1300rpm is far to high.
