Title: Double throttle control
Post by: TonyC on December 19, 2006, 05:19:26 PM
I\'ve been poking around the engine on my car (single turbo) and I\'ve noticed that there is no vac pipe going into the double throttle control. As the car came like this I\'ve no idea if a) it\'s fallen off, b) it\'s not needed or c) it is needed.

Any ideas - should there be a pipe running to this controller if the car is single turbo. DIOes it need blockign up if not, and if it does need one, where does the other end of the pipe need to go!

Cheers

You\'re double throttle will be open all the time, it\'s only used on cold start so you can leave it disconnected but might cause rough running when cold. I had to disconnect mine because I snapped the vac connection of the solenoid when stripping the UIM off, all i get is the rev\'s drop off when its cold if i rev past 4000rpm

Cheers, what sort of rough runing does it cause when cold?

When it\'s on fast idle, about 2-2.500 rpm if you give it more than say 50% throttle, when you clutch to stop the rev\'s drop to about 800-1000 then adjust back to high idle, after say 5 min\'s of driving, drive\'s and idle\'s perfect. It\'s not to much of a problem when you know it\'s doing it, just drive through it

Ah fine,  it won\'t be driven stop-start on warm up. Just warmed up in the paddock and then nailed on the track. So I guess it won\'t be a problem.
Thanks - another tick off the list!

Best thing to do then is remove the throttle completely, if you\'re using it for competition purpose\'s might help that little bit with air flow?
