Title: hi revving engine

what sort of internal mods would you have to do to the 13b twin turbo engine to get 10,000rpm+?
have been looking on tuning sites at parts and mods but dont really understand everything!:o
what advantages do you get from a 2 piece eccentric shaft?
what advantages do you get from a racing stud kit(like dowelling)
i assume you would need porting, race clearences and oil/water mods but what else?

with normal piston engines to get higher revs you usually strengthen the pistons, crank rods, shorten the stroke and lighten everything first but seems a bit different with a rotary.
i would still say lightening everything-rotars,rotor shaft ect but what other parts need uprating to rev higher?
rotoe tips,springs,gaskets,bearings?
whats best,2mm or 3mm apex seals?and whats the best material?
would like a high power high reving engine but it would have to be fairly reliable and last more than 30k miles.i wouldnt be using 10k+all the time!

a one piece essentric shaft tends to flex at high revs so the 2 piece take sthat out and allows it to rev higher safer.

I have an engine dowled, at high boost there is a tendancy for the housing to be twisted, this strengthens this and helps prevent the twisting.

I\'m using one piece ianetti ceramic tips, 3mm.

You are never going to get the secret incrediants that make a winning engine over a forum, but im sure you will get good advise. How serious are you about building such an engine and most importantly, how deeps your pockets.

My engine was built by Carl on this forum, I know he has preformed some of his magic tricks on it, but I dont know what. I am just looking forward to driving it.

Hi reving and turbo\'s don\'t usually go hand in hand. I think its to do with having to size the turbo to deal with the air required at 10\'000 rpm and having massive lag down low.

What do you want out of the engine ?

not 100% sure what i want the engine to do yet.car will not be used as an everyday car but will be used for having a blast on a weekend or when im feeling fruity and for doing a few trackdays and 1/4 miles but must be reliable and drivable on the road!
would like a powerband between 4k and 9k with the extra revs available top end if needed!
like i say it wont be revved to 10k all the time.

10K RPM  - ekkk thats a scary thought

i had my egi up to about 8750 RPM , but that was a messed up gear change - didnt seem to mind though !

but 10K - not being funny matey - i cant see the point

on a normal TII you are at the highest BHP at about 6500 - so no point going above that

if you want power/speed - go with the fuel pump , injectors and new ECU  ( then rip the bepper out of the rev counter ! )

just my £0.02 worth
