Im after some advise, Put the FD into get it\'s mot 2day and failed on the o2 levels. Come up at 7.9 when i was told it has 2 be below 3.5, has any 1 got any ideas how to lower this.
Spec i have is Dcat and hks rear exhaust (mine is a 92 no need 4 a cat), apexi PFC and induction. The Engine has been rebuilt about 1000miles ago.
I have been told it is a poss fault with the air pump???? What does that do???
Thanks Gregor
I think the air pump is used to pump air into the cat to help assist with catalyising process, not 100% but im sure im read that somewhere.
If you have a de-cat i would imagine the air pump would be redundant now:)
scuttle rx is right. the air pump just puts cleaner air in the exhaust. you could take it off. if you have a pfc then im sure that someone that can program them could adjust it to be lean enough for the mot. then put it back to the current settings.
dont boot it about with the lean settings though
You should be able to adjust the PFC to resolve the fuelling issue.
Dan
Get the air pump checked, not that you should need one?
Any one who knows what they\'re at with the Power FC will be able to sort it for you by using an appropriate MOT-friendly map. Dunno who\'s closest - whether Tim or Dragon are nearer than Geff?
Geff\'s in Portsmouth and does lots of emissions work for importers and will sort it easy guaranteed if no one else is nearer and u cant get it sorted yerself, number should be in the Vendors section...
Whatever, dont panic, its easily sorted ;)
Another option is finding an FD-friendly MOT station. Only one I can suggest is Dave at http://www.tvmot.com - probably a bit of a trot for you though!
