Title: Insurance for running in?
Post by: Bobfish on December 15, 2006, 03:39:19 PM
guys,

I need to insure my 7 to run it in. Obviously ill only be doing 1000 or so miles, and i wont be putting the boot down at all.

Does anywhere cater for this and take it into account insurance wise? i think not but its worth a try...

try a classic car policy.
If over ten years old and a second car and garaged you can limit your milage and pay as little as me 285 fully comp on 5000 miles:) and thats with all mods declared.
Hope that helps

Cheers

I walked past your car at about 3 oclock this morning. It has non standard quad headlights and what looked like 18 inch multi-split spoke rims, i think they were white. Car was black and spoilerless.

Was very funny actually as i was talking to a guy about my car and he asked what it looke dlike, was just about to hsow him a photo and then saw your car lol.

Why not just insure it like normal? Insurance wont care about you running it in how do they know its not going over X ammount of revs. Also your still in the same dangers on the road etc.

Because of the cost cally.

Insurers dont know that, but thats why i asked -are there any that do?

And no im not in the same dangers on the road. YOu pay a premium according to the car - RX7s are expensive to insure because they are fast. THis one isnt is it? Because its being run in. Hence its about as fast as a 1.0 fiesta so as such why am i paying all that extra money to insure it?

it was a long shot i know but if you dont ask you never know.

Still looks like an rx7 tho therefore is more likely to be targeted by a thief. Basically i think you will have to bite the bullet and pay up.

I have my car insured through Competition Car Insurance.  That was NO no claims bonus, I was an old git at 35, but the car is only valid for 2000 road miles.  But it also covers me for track insurance.

You do need to have done your ARDS test...and now hold an MSA license, and you need to tell them you are about to compete..... Then sign yourself up for some sprint racing as you don\'t need a rollcage......Or what you could do is strip out your pride and joy and fit a cage then get down to Combe and help me kick some Ferrari Butt! ;)

LOL, that\'s a brilliant angle for encouraging more people into motorsport.:Santa  Top work. If we get enough racing we could paint them all in the same livery and form a team for the Birkett.
