Title: Single tub now complete
Post by: strange_days_uk on December 15, 2006, 09:58:47 AM
Well, got the car from Carl\'s all I can say is WOW !!

It is a completely different car to the stock twin set up, SO Much more power, smoother, a new car.

I will write a bit more up when I have the time to.

Only worry at the mo is the Greddy Profec B Spec II boost controller.

It seems to be allowing a little bit of boost creep, and also I think it is bleeding off some boost at low revs instead of allowing full boost level before bleeding off.  Anyone know anything about thie controller, can give any tips ??

Cheers, Simon..

I\'m having problems with mine too. I just can\'t get it setup. Boosts over the warning setting, and won\'t come down again. Pain in the butt. My wastegate spring may be too stiff.

Good question that :cheers :rollin

Problem is Carl don\'t have a dyno so will have to wait some time until I get it on a rolling road.  I should say 350 rw though at least.

I have downloaded the instructions and spent some time checking it out.

First thing to do is set the GAIN down to minimum (5%)

Then start playing with the boost percentage to get the right boost level.

I also just found that if I set the START BOOST to .65, then the valve won\'t start doing anything until .65 Bar, so get quicker spool :WaveBye

Give us some pic\'s!!!!, and a quick question where did you take the boost pipe for the boost solenoid from the compressor housing dos\'nt have a outlet, did you have one fitted to the turbo or take it from the inlet manifold??

Cheers

make sure the start boost isn\'t too close to the desired boost. It will spike at the beginning and not recover properly. Singles should be easier to setup than twins, surely ????

Time to find a nice straight road and have a play !

Hi Simon,
When I tuned the car the boost reached a max of only just above a Bar,if it is going much more than that then please bring the car back and I\'ll happilly have a look at it at no charge.
The type of turbo you have on a stock engine will not come on boost too much earlier by adjusting the startboost without a spike somewhere.
PM me or call me if you like.:chat
Regards
Carl

Pics to follow -

I have adjusted the start boost back down to .4

It was the gain that was really causing the controller to interfere unecessarily.

Carl I think I may be coming to see you again soon as inevitably the clutch is now starting to slip a little at high revs on first boost of the day.

Basically this car is now the car it was always meant to be.  I mean it was nothing before compared to what it is now.

I will get some decent pics up soon.  Happy Christmas everyone !!

Just been out to Tesco\'s, really enjoying driving the car.  I have got one of the Mazdaspeed seats I wanted in, the other will be arriving soon so get that in too.  They are really nice seats, firm and aggressive but very comfortable and good lumbar too.

check out the custom downpipe

Annoying because there is nowhere spacious enough to open her up, just content myself with little spurts here and there :mmmm

Car runs lovely in this cold wet fog too.  Had fun coming out of the car park over a little wed roundabout..  :WaveBye
