this question is way farfetched but just thought id ask if at all possible.
A crazy thought crossed my mind about putting a eunos cosmos 20b engine into a mazda familia. as i have no intention of doing it AS YET as i don\'t even have a familia but deeply admire them. i was just wondering if anyone would have an opinion on it. Although the familia was never standard with a rotary, i have heard stories of people putting them in. The familia GTR did come out in an AWD Turbo 1.8 which is close to the cosmos\'s near 2L Engine. Has anyone heard of a cosmos engine swap in any other car.. i would love to hear some feedback good or bad. cheers
Personal opinion Mate but the 20b should stay where it was put in a Cosmo, there are far too few of these cars left as it is.

I agree with Kev, if it means chopping up a Cosmo, please dont do it ! If you can find a loose engine somewhere, though, go for it!
You can make anything work if you spend enough money!
i do agree with you guys and you\'re right there arn\'t many of them left however i did find a cosmos engine for sale on the internet for $6450 US
http://www.srmotorsports.com/Used_Mazda_Parts.html (http://www.srmotorsports.com/Used_Mazda_Parts.html) apparently the rx-7 enthusiasts are mad on the cosmos\'s 13b and 20b .. have a look http://www.rx7club.com/archive/index.php/f-95.html (http://www.rx7club.com/archive/index.php/f-95.html).. so i guess you can\'t stop the way the market goes.. but full credit to the cosmos for making 2 historic engines. I think i would have to win lottery before i ever considred doing an engine swap ;)
kimbo, for starters the UK has too few of these cars to see the engines being used for many conversions. In places like Oz and NZ it\'s quite common to buy a 20B Cosmo, rip out the engine, and dump the rest but I haven\'t seen this trend here. It also seems to be there is a bit of tension (and occasionaly sh!t fights) on this forum when people mention swapping engines to different makes and models. Your best bet for information on this sort of conversion is //www.kiwirotary.com/phpbb.
Here is one example of what has been done in NZ,

There has also been a few conversions retaining FWD. These have been using a 13B (20B is waaay too long). I have loads of pics and information but little time to post here (I should be working) so please ask on Kiwirotary and I\'m sure you\'ll get all you need. If you decide to go ahead I\'d been keen to follow your progress as these are cool conversions!
hey thanks for all that info.. i will have a look on the kiwirotary site.., i do live in aus so it may be a bit closer to home. cheers.
Here\'s an engine bay shot of a FWD 323 rotary forsale on //www.trademe.co.nz

nice thats what i like to see... any idea on what type of rotary?
If you look real close above where it says MAZDA on the rotor housings you can barely make it out - 12A. I don\'t think it\'s ported much. Factory 323 gearboxes aren\'t exactly strong. :)
yeh i can just see... any more info on this fwd familia rotary??
