bargains can be had but just be aware if things are too good to be true then it means they normally are how many of us have thought they were getting a steal of a bargain only to find we have purchased a pile of poo..ask all the questions before parting with the wonga and make sure the seller has good feedback

seller has over 1000 positive feedback, and i have had intercoolers etc from them before and quality and service has always been excellent

im more asking the question is this a good size turbo to replace the stock twins without to much lag?

cheers

Turbos are a different kettle of fish.  The tolerances are so fine and longevity so crucial that I decided to get a branded tub, ended up getting a Garret T04s from the US.

great price (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GARRETT-60-1-T04S-TURBO-T4-T04-T04R-V-Band-TURBOCHARGER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ009QQitemZ190031659525QQrdZ1)  They also sell the GT35R ultimate medium tub for an FD.

I got the manifold and wastegate all seperately, car is ready for collection on tuesday cannot wait.!!!

Think very carefully before buying any component parts for a single tub conversion..

0.6 coldside is about right for a medium tub (compromise between low lag and high end boost power)

you want a .84 or 1.0 hotside ideally with that..

I have spoke to a bloke a bloke at turbo technics the other week when I had my to4r rebuilt and he was telling me about these xs turbos and he says they are crap. they can\'t take a lot of boost.

The fastest street legal supra in england uses an xs power turbo 250 pounds from the usa!!Dj craigs car, also turbofit say they never have issues with these turbos and they fit them as part of some single conversions,i had there intercooler on my supe and it was excellent quality and price, inside the wastegate needs greased and filed down as there were reports they can stick sometimes.i had a full kit and was gona fit it to the supe but sold the car before i had the chance,i have heard stories about the tubbies being crap, but thats never been backed up with any proof, there were even people making up stories about the turbos that were later found out to be bollox, there are a few lads i know running these kits on supras with no problems at all,it was mostly fitting problems they had like needing to make holes a bit bigger on the manifold and altering the downpipe etc.I say for the money you cant go wrong!!thats if your willing to put a bit of work into it:)

wouldnt touch it with a barge pole after i saw the state of my mates xs power manifold on his 200sx with the same turbo, the manifold was 2 months old and the turbo a year old. the manifold has about 50 cracks in it and the turbo had a inch of play in the mainshaft! so much the turbine fans where hitting the housing!!!

an inch of play? surely it couldnt have had that much?

so theres mixed opinions on xs power then!!lol

but the actual phyical size of it is about right for a compromise between lag and power?

if i have an oppertunity to by one of these kits for 200 quid:mmmm  brand new surely its gotta be worth it!

save your money and get a recognised kit, like a garrett. it will be worth it in the long run.

Ooooooh Yey, the old XS Power debate!!!

Everyone I KNOW who has run XS Power snails have got things nice in the end but the 1st, a T70 on an SR20 took 2 failures before we got a good one (this was very early days of XS Power ans SS Autochrome) they have had problems with early manifolds cracking (which I think is nailed now!) and they also had some probs with VW, BMW and Liner manifolds not fitting, again, this got sorted.

When it comes to XS Power, you really need to be prepared to work for the power, if you\'re looking for a bolt-on and forget kit, then its a case of upping your price range to accomodate a more reputable product (although even these can fail)

Best of luck with the search fella.

i have seen both an early FD manifold from them and a newer one and there is a lot of difference, the newer being better,  my intercooler is from them and its spot on,  as said, if you have a stock engine and just want a cheap way to replace twins and get a little more power, then this kit will do the job with stock ports or mild street port and less than 1 bar boost.

I think Gmans old car had this kit and it made 295 rwhp from memory with a new ported engine.

XS-Power say they use Garrett internals but they don`t, good numbers tho I got 334rwhp from their Super T70 but sold it for a bigger turbo:chat .

Good luck if you go with it
