Title: Rebuilding Engine
Post by: mraraju on December 11, 2003, 06:19:45 PM
Hi all,

After reading a post on rebuilding rotary engines I would like to ask a few questions.

Firstly i think Evil Rotor sed that thins need to be mesured accurately. What are these the apex seal??

Can the rotor be fitted iincorrectly or does it only go in position on the offset dog?  (i think thats what they call it)

I seen a picture of a chain where somebody had rebuilt an engine, does this drive the oil pump?

I there any gotchas about rebuilding the engine.

How long is a piece of string?

Thanks

I know some these questions are bit vague I just want learn some more about these cars, i have already learnt a great deal after only owning one for 4-5 weeks.

Thanks again

Raju

Could have been me.

There is no Haynes Manual for the 3rd gen, but you can get for 1st and 2nd gen. I suggest go and buy one, and read through the engine rebuild.

Yes, there is a very small chain to drive the oil pump. Some of the seals come from Mazda oversized, so you need to grind them.

There is also an engine rebuild video by Bruce Tarrentine.
