I\'ve been having a bit of a boost problem for the past 6 months.
It\'s a problem as one turn of the key it could be running perfectly fine and pulling strong and hard.. and the next turn it could be running like a complete donkey.
I\'ve replaced 5 of the 6 solonoids and glued together a oneway vlave that was broken but the problem is still there.
Here are a couple of graphs from the dyno yesterday and as you can see the power and torque are all over the place and it seems like it\'s putting a lot of fuel through..
The car is completely stock with a stock ECU.
Can anyone offer any further advice??
Thanks,
Rob.

Have you tried swapping the ECU. They do go wrong occassionaly

No, I haven\'t tried that.
I guess that would account for the over fuelling maybe.
Is it likely that it would come and go as it does if it is an ECU problem??
I\'d say buy a set of Check valves (there not expencive) fit them and give it a good looking over for Split or Damaged Vac pipes.
I second the ECU, I\'m having problems with mine at the Moment but i have a PFC on route.
My suggestion is go single:rollin :rollin :chat
I have a spare ECU you can try though.
Those figures seem very low , even for a stock car???
I\'ve got a similar problem with mine, but on the roalers last year she made 265 @ Fly then on the second run the second turbo wouldnt kick in ans she made 185 @ the wheels!!

Pesonally i would take it to a specialist. Oh hang on i would check if all your plugs are working. And why were tyre pressures 40? I only put pressure up if i expect over 450rwhp
It\'s being looked at by someone in the know next week.
The problem with it is that it doesn\'t always happen and everytime my chap has a look at it it\'s running fine... next week it will happen when I take it round there even if I have to drive round all day to try and force it!
Thanks for the advice and offers of ECU.
We are going to try and get the car playing up and then fire each solonoid individually to see if they are all working. If they are we are going to try putting a different ECU in.
Fingers crossed.
Triton upped the tyre pressures to 40psi before running on the rolling road.
Wiring to the map sensor ? Or wiring to the solenoids ?
Just remembered this.. I finally got it sorted after a diagnostic done by RE:Worx... (thanks guys, spot on! :) )
Turned out to be the Air Temp Sensor telling the rest of the electrics that the outside temp was -36!
Touch wood it\'s been running fine ever since fitting the new sensor! (Chris P have you eaten your hat yet mate??? :p :D )
Is that the one in the MAF sensor / inlet piping ?
Quote from: ProfIs that the one in the MAF sensor / inlet piping ?
Erm... dunno! lol
Its under the Plenum and bolts in like a spark plug with a wire going to the top if that makes sense!
Air temp is the only Sensor on the Upper Inlet manifold on an FD, its on the Underside and the only way to realy see it is to remove the Upper inlet.
That\'s the engine intake temp sensor, not sure about FD\'s, but on the FC there is a temp sensor in the MAF sensor housing as well - ambient air temp.
Sounds like your car was running in a failsafe mode with that sensor down - so power would have been well down on stock
is there any way of checking this? i think this could be the solution to all my woes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have checked every single hose on the entire stock turbo system (finding lots and lots of problems) currently mine is doing the above.
i have tried to read the fault codes joining the the FEM and TEN terminal (this should be right for uk cars right) but it just keeps flashing short flashes over and over i stopped counting after 50. does this mean there are no faults or does this fault not show?
any help would be great!

For the sake ot £27 from Mazda and 20 mins to fit I think its worth a shot.. either that or go to a specialist and get them to run a diagnostic (that cost me about £70)
20 mins? do i need to take the plenum off?
i had it off today! damn if only i\'d known.
i am almost certain i will do this or use a triumph one!
do you know the part number at all? mazda round here do not seem to be able to identify any part on my car!
i am experiencing this behavior most of the time also - when this fails is it only intermittent?
i know where it is now but i cant decide whether to relocate to the elbow or not

It repaets the same fault code over and over.
Down load this and look up the fault codes (there is quite a few) it will give you an idea of what your after.http://www.wrex-racing.com/html/fd/...shop_manual.zip

Yes it\'s was only intermittant on mine.
Sensor, Air Temp - N3A118845 - £27.01
thanks guys i appreciate your help.
my problem i think gets worse the hotter the car gets and happens all the time but i think i will give this a try tomorrow.
i have checked the entire turbo system piping. comp readings are 7.6 all round and 7.8 all round leads look in very good condition and are magnecor 8mm and coils look newish.
im not sure about the leads as they look fine but fittment isnt the best i am thinking that if they were faulty they would never be able to sustain full boost etc but i am not sure how to test them?
do you guys know how to test them? reisistance i think?
thanks again
would this show up as a fault?
