Title: black smoke and over fuelling
Post by: jamie_eaton on December 01, 2006, 01:23:49 PM
Hello guys i think my problem may be something else as i have different symtoms now  as i said in this thread
http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30980&page=2

It took so long to start up the other day it eventually did but with such a struggle,, it sounded so bad and loud.
the ammount of black smoke was unreal, i left it idleing for no more than 10 mins and it took about £12 worth of petrol, finally drove it no more than 1 mile to park up, left it for  mins and it ran out.
The engine was shaking like mad, and the revs was up and down, up and down puffing out the black smoke.
my friend tells me it is just overfueling stupidly and the apexi controller will sort that? but i have no idea and if that was the case how has it just changed?.
im well stuck..

I had the same problem and was caused by few wires being disconected from that grey plug thats under or side of the plenum.  It sits just under the water hose that feeds water/runs on top of the elbow near the bulk head.  Cut the old plug and use the same wires comming from loom and connect it with new one.  I bought a plug/conector from rx motors and very carefully put each wire with correct colour together and reconect, problem was sorted.

The wires from this conectors goes direct to iginition coil pack.  If disconected or broken then there is no or less spark going to the leads hence car not firing or running rich with loads of black smoke.  Its worth a try and check the conector.

Also check the vacumm hose to the MAP sensor while you are it, if this is disconnected or split this will cause the same symptoms

I\'ve been doing some reading up of late (Having some problems myself) and a common fault for Stockers is a Bad earth to the ECU, it keeps going into limp mode and Making the car run realy rich, Water or air Temp Sensors also cause problems.
