Hi,
I have a 1988 2nd Gen Non-Turbo (13b). I need a new exhaust as mine needs reaplacing soon. Can anyone advise me where I can get a cheap one ?
Will a Turbo exhaust fit/can I get it to fit with a little tinkering?
Cheers

It depends where its rotten from, but the systems are not really compatible IIRC. (ROughly similar for Y peice back) If the whole system is rotten then you will probably need to look at getting one of the performance systems - the Mazda one is very complicated on N/A, so unless you decide to go for a full sports sytem and remove the air injection side of the emissions control system then its going to cost you lots I\'m afraid.
Racing beat do a good system. Also give our vendors a call and see what they can do for you :)
Hi,
Cheers for the info Brett. I think I might have to have a ring round - don\'t want to spend much. There is a place towards Bristol that do a complete stainless steel exhaust for £649, but it\'s a bit pricey, considering the car won\'t be worth much more than that!
Anyone fancy buying the old girl - she has just passed the MOT ?
I\'m afraid thats about the going price, unless you fancy doing a trawl of the breakers yards to find a good 2nd hand one?
Speaking of exhausts, does the Racing Beat racing header account for the steering column on a RHD car???
I was speaking to Sean and he said they only used LHD cars to develop the headers so column never taken into consideration, like the bargain FD downpipes you can get that won\'t fit as they were developed on LHD cars.
I need a header so if any one knows?
I brought a Hurley exhaust for my EGi, now not wishing to accuse anyone of copying anything (cough) but it did look a hell of a lot like the Racing beat header (except it was more expensive and made of thin mild steel) and fitted perfectly. (Theres a lot of clearance between the twin header pipes and the coloumn) I would suggest giving either Carl hayward of Hayward rotary or Pip of WGT a ring as I\'m sure they have had experience of racing beat systems :yes
You could always get one from wgt. I\'ve just swapped over the 1st gen n/a to one of pips. Fully stainless for 450+vat.
It felt like a big job on the 1st gen because i struggled getting stuff off and finding all the correct blanking points.

just picking up on this thread really
it depends on how much of the exhaust you need
its in 3-4 parts - so you may get away with just sections of it

Cheers for all the info - I think it all needs replacing - apart from the two back boxes - they look in pretty good nick - but the Y pipe to the front are all pretty rough - there is quite a lot on bandage on it. I just don\'t know whether it is worth spending £450 +. I don\'t really have the time anymore. Anyone fancy buying the car?
im sure that you will get away with most of it from a TII - apart from the header
and your prob is - if you sell the car you need to take into account that someone will want to kmock a lot off as they will need to by an exhaust for it :(
Hi, I may be able to help.
I have a brand new complete janspeed system sitting in my garage and I only need the two back boxes.
You can have the remainder of the system for £120 plus postage.
Now for the Thicky bit, sorry I am new to this vehicle.
I am not 100% sure its the right system. As it looks different to the system on my 1987 (import). It has a Janspeed part number of ES 774 and it states on there that it is for a 13b engine. so it should be correct.
I am hoping to fit the two back boxes to my vehicle perhaps someone out there can let me know if this is possible.
Cheers
Colin
it depends on if its a 13b turbo or EGI ?
Mine is a non turbo.
Goddycol, Dammit I was in Willingham last night, I could\'ve checked it out.
Have you got any pics of what you have there???
I have a couple of photo\'s but will need to e-mail them to you, unless you can explain in simple language how i upload them to the site.
Colin
