Now that I\'ve swapped my exhaust and replaced the fan for an electric one my current insurance won\'t insure me on the FB. Im currently with "more than" and they seem to really dislike any "performance" (lol) mods. I\'ve got a 380bhp FD, why is a FB with a little more bhp than stock really un-insurable ??
How much bhp could i expect from just removing the airpump, swapping over to a full stainless system from WGT and an electric fan ? The engine has done 106k miles, unless its had a rebuild at some time in its life.
Can anybody reconmend a good insurance company for getting the FB insured ?? Im looking more for mod friendly. Most im likely to do is to either fit lpg with a full stainless system and electric fan or a dollerto 48 side draft with stainless exhaust and electric fan. All depends on the mpg attainable on the side draft.
Im considering buying a 2nd hand engine to rebuild with a big street port or half bridge, but that will be some time off.
Its going to be a daily driver so it won\'t be on a classic policy.
Cheers
Shaun
could be tricky - but you can still get a classic on 6K a year - or isnt that enough ? ( ah yes a classic needs to be a second car ) - tricky matey - very tricky
happy hunting though - have you tried confused.com for a laugh ?
I\'ll probably just either go with houghton or who your with but would have really liked to know if anybody else knew a good deal.

Had a quick quote off heritage for 420ish so will ring them today.

Hi Shaun,
I\'ve got my RX-4 through Graham Sykes, http://www.graham-sykes.co.uk, at about £160 with all mods listed.
They were also cheap for my RX-7 on a classic policy, that was less than £100, I don\'t know how they\'ll be with a daily driver, but ask for Toby, he was really helpful.

Cheers, got a quote back from heritage, worked out at 360.06, so not too shabby !
Cheers Ray !

Hmm, looks like I\'ll have a problem next year... I\'m moving over to the UK, bringing a highly modded FB. It has a Mariah Mode One widebody kit and TII engine on a Wolf 3D, along with sports air intake, free flow exhaust (stainless 70mm pipes) etc. I\'ll use it as a daily driver (or at least wanted to do that...) for about three or four months, maybe less, depending on when/how/where I can find a decent estate-car when the family moves over.
You should be ok, there are quite a few insurance companies that will insure you on highly modded cars. Heritage do special cover with garenteed value and very mod friendly (just ask kev yorks).

Yes you may struggle with a few companies as some require you to have lived in the U.K. for 3 years or more.

Talk to AON as I set this one up so that club members modded cars would be able to get insurance.
You will be able to do various levels of agreed "limited" mileage which will hopefully mean the car can still be a daily

I have noticed that too... We\'ll see, but it seems very strange to require this. I mean, how do I get to work if I don\'t get insurance for my car ???
