Title: suspension options
Post by: leggysrx7 on November 26, 2006, 01:59:52 PM
Hi,

Two options available:

Tein super street

or

Koni shocks +white line springs

Any one got any info. I\'ve heard (through a mx5 owner) that tein are prone to rust??!!

not really sure about the rusting thing, advised by a mate that it\'s problematic of the tein suspension (cue lawsuit!!)

Tein Super Streets transformed my car....  I have no experience of any other make though, to be fair.

How bumpy are they? As my present suspension is pretty hard for the roads round my way, so I am looking at changing in the new year.

Original suspension was standard shocks and lowered (unknown) springs, making me lose a few fillings every journey! Teins were so much better (on soft setting), and are stiffer than before on hard setting.

Got the teins on my car but I\'ve never driven it with standard setup.

Rebound is set mid way right now and seems perfect!  Glides over bumps and the handling is sublime!

Some of the roads near me are terrible - the rex takes them smoother than a lot of standard cars that I\'ve been in.

I\'ve got Super Streets and the suspension transforms the cars handlings.

I\'ve also got the top mounts on mine, which make the suspension stiffer. I might change the settings on them. If you have them on the hardests setting it is rock hard, but ideal if you want to go on the track with them once in a while.

One word of warning, you can\'t buy the Super streets and then buy the top mounts later to fit, you have to buy new springs as well (thes cost £140 a pair), so think about what you want to do in the future

If your car is like mine and 13 years old the stock mounts will be fairly worn as well, so you might have to get new mazda ones anyway.

Where is the best (cheapest) place to purchase tein suspension?

Got mine from SRB power for under £600 IIRC (using standard top-mounts).  They were the cheapest at the time (slightly cheaper than SHY Auto).

I\'m running with Koni shocks and Racing Beat springs (also got the Racing Beat uprated front and rear anti roll bars).  Fantastic setup, the car handles totally neutrally.
