Title: de-cat and MOT test advice
Post by: michaelb on November 24, 2006, 11:36:02 PM
Hi All

Is installing de-catted silenced 3” mid pipe going to give my 96 FD problems passing MOT?

Does any one here has a 96 import and passed their MOT with out the cat?

Does twitching the mixture just for the test on your PFC will help passing the emission test?

Regards,
Michaelb

a 96 car will fail the test without cat as pre 95 only need idle test 3.5co but after 95 they require full test and unless u have a arrangement with the tester it will fail.consider gettting a high flow metallic cat and u will get just as much benefit and stay fairly green

Thanks for that.  Do you know which vendor sells metallic high flow cats ?

I may put up a tread to see if I can get a second hand one..

High flow cat will rob me of some bhp in comparison to de-cat, right?

Yes, the potential for more power will not be as great.  I know a few of the vendors at the top of the page sell these hi flow cat\'s - give your chosen one a call or email and see what they have.

best way is get a mid pipe and then call custom chrome i think he does hi flow met cats and then just cut and weld other wise about 350.00 is approx cost go on google uk as some other people do weld in cats..i doubt u will notice difference between decat and hi flow cat
