My 87 N/A`s inlet manifold doesn`t look like any of the ones in the downloadable manuals or the haynes manual, does it have a 6 ports? if so where is the actuator?
is there an manual for the Uk cars as there seem to be quite a few differences:confused:
thanks
Mark
they are some diferent N/A out there.
I need a pic to tell you more.
the EU-Version of 1987 N/A look like on the pic below. (soory for a bad quality)
Thanks and REgards
Iwan
Yep that`s what mine looks like, distributer and all.
do you have a manual for it?
cheers
Mark:)
Hi Mark,
you can download it from here:

i have a north american spec car and it looks nothing like that .i dont have a distributer just 4 coils if you guys want that set up i can send you what you need including ecu.
Yup confused me until recently. The US went to full coil per plug setup whilst the UK stayed with a Dizzy.
We also escaped from cats for longer.
DO YOU HAVE THE 6 PORT ENGINES IN YOUR SECOND GENS BACK HOME BECAUSE THAT ENGINE REALLY LOOKS DIFFRENT
Yup.
Actually not quite... As the emissions were not as strict on Euro cars the aux ports were butterflies in the manifold not sleeves and were actuated by inlet vac not exhaust back pressure.
Bill
HEY BILL DID THEY HAVE 4 PORT NA ENGINES IN THERE SECOND GENS IF SO COULD YOU FIND ME ONE.
If you mean 4 port 13B these were only available in turbo form.
I have a 9.4:1 13B 4-port in the westfield but this was imported from the USA. These are very rare in the UK.
Turbo 2 blocks with 9.4 or 9.7 rotors in make very good NA power plants though. Should be plentiful with you.
Bill
so is there any need for the air pump at all? no cats so no emissions test, not needed to open 5th and 6th ports?? can i ditch it without problems?
I STRIPED EVERY THING OF MY ENGINE TO DO WITH EMISIONS AND I MEAN EVERYTHING I EVEN PUT A T2 FUEL PUMP IN THEY SAY YOU LOSE TORQUE WHEN REMOVING 5TH AND 6 TH PORTS BUT I COULD NOT NOTICE IT I FOUND THAT THE CAR DIDNT LIKEIT WHEN IT WAS NOT WARMED UP BUT I THINK THATS DUE TO A BIGGER FUEL PUMP.SOME MORE SIDE EFFECTS ARE BIG FLAMES WHEN SHIFTING AT HIGH RPM;S

I don\'t know exaclty, but I think the AUS N/A was a 4 port version.
REgards Iwan
In australia they do have many more of the NA 4-ports but these were not from RX7s. They had the US style 6-ports as I recently sold a UK LIM to someone.

any comment on this Bill?
thanks,
Mark
Well, All my 13B engined cars are visible smoke only, so I couldn\'t comment too much ( but will check with my local MOT guys who like rotaries and get back). Would guess air pump not needed (although it would be interesting to try air shrouded injectors, but that\'s another story).
On a euro 6 port the ports are actuated by manifold vac so agnostic to exhaust. I\'m guessing ditch it.
Bill
On my air pump it says "do not remove air pump no oiling" any idea what that is about?
how would shrouding the injectors with air help?
also do you think a Racing Beat header collector will fit a right hand drive car?
this one:

I hope someone can shed some light on this coz my girlfriend has offered to pay for the exhaust a a christmas present and would like to order before she changes her mind;) :D
thanks,
Mark
Air shrouding vastly improves atomisation at low air velocities, so increasing cruise economy. The baskets on 6-port injectors have a similar effect, if passive.
A but like a pressure washer vs a hosepipe. Both actually dispense the same amount of water per unit time but with different effects.
so would i basically need to route the air from the pump over the injectors?
any ideas about my exhaust question?
thanks,
Mark
RE: zorst, call rotechniks. They have one on the shelf so should know if it fits.
