Hmm. After pranging at the Ring in July, had a few things fixed, got my oil sandwich plate attached, then left the car for a good two months on the drive.
Went to have a look yesterday, battery flat, tried jump starting off my Landy but all it would do is click, click, click.
Charged the battery up overnight, pulling a good 1.5 to 3 Amps all the time, put it back in today, same thing, no starter motor whirr at all.
Now when I turn the ignition to point II everything goes as planned, all lights come on, and the immobiliser goes off as the PFC screen lights up and displays what it should, so I don\'t think it\'s the immobiliser.
When I turn it to the starter (point III) there\'s the click from the starter motor solenoid, all the dash lights flash off and on, and the PFC screen shows that the PFC keeps restarting ??
So, is it the starter motor sticking, thus drawing loads of current, rebooting the PFC ? Is the battery shafted, not having enough life left to move the motor ? Or is it the immobiliser, even though it switches off OK on the key fob ?
Next actions are :
i) Ask you guys where the starter motor is located so I can hit it with a hammer.... ;
ii) Ask the mrs to tow start me behind the Land Rover ;
iii) Tow the mrs in the rex to the local mazda dealership (I get a lot of my work done there, they\'re OK and only 1/4 mile round the corner).
So if anyone can share a pearl or two of wisdom and even point me in the direction of the best whack on the starter motor, I would be very grateful !

Could just be flooded! There\'s a post somewhere in the technical section about starting flooded cars, probably in the stickies section i reckon....hope you get it started :)
sounds like a stuck starter solenoid....have you tried pushing starting? Starter Motor is on the passenger side of the gearbox...follow the 3 fuel lines as they go down the passenger side of the car and where they pass the gearbox, you should see the starter. Or it could be a dead battery....i left the one of my integra overnight on charge after the teg had been standing 3 months...didnt do anything...was totally dead with no charge..
I had exactly the same problem a while ago, it was the Battery not holding charge. I tried all sorts but if the Battery on the Car is Dead even if you jump it it won\'t go, i think there has to be at least some life there. The FD battery just don\'t like being left flat for any period of time.
Yes you can hit the starter with a hammer (its next to the gear box under the NS you can get at it well from under the car)
yes you can toe an Fd to Bump start it but again you have to have at least some surface charge there (dash lights on)
I would sugest toeing it in second gear if you can at least get the dash lights on, then if its even slightly flooded it won\'t make any Diffrence. (if its a Stock front end you can get to the Toeing eye but taking some of the ten mm bolts out of the OS section of the Lower splitter and feeding the rope through the gap)
A simple test to see how much juice there is in the battery would be to Turn the lights on, if there Dim that means its Not good and oviously if there Bright you have a Good battery.
Put it in 3rd, (ignition OFF) and push it, this will free a sticky starter.
Sounds like battery is knacked m8, stick a new one on it

Sounds like a fduked battery to me....change it and let us know how you get on
Cheers all, battery looked pretty good on charge, dash lights, sidelights, no problem. The clicking is the relay when I open the circuit on the key, the circuit closing immediately as the starter motor tries to draw heaps of current and fails.
I\'ll get busy with a hammer, then third gear. Cheers folks, will let you know how I get on.
