ok my car (1992 uk spec fd) is currently at work in a hanger with the dash, door cards and seats removed for re trimming/painting/tarting up, i push her out side to start her up at least once a week let her idle for 15 mins drive her round the base let her idle for 10 mins and turn her off. this friday i started her up and the idle sounded abit off because of the cold weather i could see an leak from possibly a gasget in the top left of the engine bay and also at the join of the down pipe/back box, there was more smoke on start up than normal could this be because
a)It\'s cold so the vapour is more visable
B)The dash intsruments are out and it\'s in \'\'limp mode\'\'
c)There is not enough back pressure at idle because of my swiss chesse exhaust
Thanks for any input i\'d like to get it all sorted now while its off the road thanks Adam
Hi,
different circumstances, but I\'ve got the same odd idle and noise / fumes (wouldn\'t say smoke) coming from the top left of engine bay..
current thinking is a leak in either the exhaust manifold, or one of the turbo manifolds...
hopefully just a leaking gasket, rather than a busted manifold though...;)
turns out its a bit tricky to fix... is easier with engine out... :(
disclaimer - yours could be completely different problem though..
