This should start a good battle...
Which UK company is the "Best" for 3rd Gen tuning? I\'ve heard many different things about many different companies... what do you all think?
To make this a bit more interesting you need to backup your choices with reasons under the following categories:
1) Value for money
2) Reliability and quality of work
3) Speed of work done, was your job completed on time
4) Ideas, did the company provide plenty of "well we could do..." ideas?
5) etc... anything I haven\'t mentioned!
OK What we dont want is a good battle.
Each tuner will have its up and down points I would expect. Most people also just use the closest one for obvious reasons.
I dont want to see loads of threads slagging off any particular tuner either, or any undue sucking up for that matter. You pay them to do a job, so what if they done it well thats what you paid them to do. Its only really applicable if they provided exceptional service.
Ill leave this here if people want to comment, but if I recon this is going wrong then say bye bye thread - there are other boards with tuner arguements all over the place and it isnt pretty and we dont want this board to come like that.
Cheers

applogies for getting off on the wrong foot here- text doesn\'t always convey sarcasm very well!
Let\'s rephrase this question-
What is everyone\'s preferred tunning company and what are the reasons. I personally don\'t want to hear any slagging off of any companies, but would very much like to hear about everyone\'s experiences with tuners as I am soon to embark on mrtgaging my soul to the devil (the bank) to spend loads of lovely cash with a tuning company doing some loverly things to make the red beast go silly-fast. As I have only been in the RX7 game for a few months and have little experience with any of the companies any responses would be appreciated- once again applogies JP4RX.
;)
Dont worry i dont think Lee was having a pop at you but i agree with what he\'s said as these kinda threads can get very ugly (http://mindscraps.com/s/ups/mtk/badteeth.gif) lol
& as Lee said i think the governing factor is finding someone locally who knows their arse from the rotary elbow so if yer looking for sum1 suitable then i wood imagaine the first question is where do ya live? (http://burns.thefinaldimension.org/contrib/blackeye/Monkey_wink.gif)

Heh no problems, I just didnt want this to degenerate or anything :)
The best thing for me is a company that I trust. I havnt been to a garage for a while now as Ive started doing a fair bit myself, but when the time is needed it will be going to a place that isnt an RX7 specialist. I believe they do a good job though, and they are close, so it works for me.
Cheers

Dont suppose anyone knows of a good specialist in Scotland?
Most of us use The Garage (http://www.the-garage.co.uk). Just give them a buzz, say to Marc I said they\'d be able to help :) They don\'t de rebuilds, but are happy to take the engine out, ship it down south, get it back and reinstall it, and all routine maintenance and mod fitting.
IIRC Marc said he would map Bobs car, but you will have to speak to Marc personally regarding mapping as other than what we\'ve done on my car I don\'t think he has mapped any rotaries before. He knows the correct AFRs to aim for and has mapped boingers including his Skyline so will be able to sort the fueling OK, but probably not the timing (maybe he can, I don\'t know - I\'m running the timing map Max provided me with as it feels right :) ).
If I get a phone call asking for a shot of my datalogit I\'ll know why ;)
Nice 1 mate, where abouts in Glasgow are you? I am there through the week, stay in Shawlands. Hunting around for places as I have no doubt I will need someone to repair the rx after me driving ;)
I\'m in Kelvindale, Bob\'s a mile along the road from me, Rich is south side somewhere (I just followed his directions to get there :o ) and there are another couple around. I PM\'d you earlier, but I\'m guessing you pay as much attention to PMs as I do (it\'s at the very bottom of the forums listing page - took me months to notice it :D )
If you\'ll have your car for the start of Feb be sure and register your interest in the RR thread in the mini-meets and such like forum :)
thanks for the info about scotish tunning! one wee problem... I live in Wiltshire. I often use RX motors as a mate of mine is pretty friendly with Tim. They\'re damned good.
