Hi all
I have been advised to get a apexi power fc + commander fitted to my RX
What i was wondering is, Would a greddy E-manage piggy back unit do the same thing as i had one fitted to my skyline along with the Greddy profec E01
and i would like to go the same route but i dont know if it is a good way to go or just get the Apexi. Any thoughts on this.
Cheers Garith.
strut brace is still available, i am assuming you want it posted (£50 or collection is £40).
paypal is sticky111@hotmail.com
i will start wrapping it up.
Apexi has the bonus of every rotary tuner being able to use it and have a lot of experience with it, not sure same can be said of the Greddy...?
Although you might need to get one quick, talk of production ending soon!
Cheers,
Will be £50 for posting ,tomorrow night.
P.S any info on my topic?
Cheers Garith.
i think it should be PFC (ease and every one knows it), Microtech (Good ems), Motech (the best but you pay for it)
Depends on alot of things, I do like the idea of fitting a new Loom (10 year old wires tend to go Brital and cause Problems) but if you are watching the pennys you can\'t go wrong with a Power Fc.
When you buy a Motec does it come with the new loom (think they need a different one?), or is that an extra you need to add to the price?
Cheers Grizzly,
Its not so much watching the penny\'s as it is i like the greddy profec as it is all in one boost controller fuel mapper ect ect just wondering really if it would do the same as a pfc?
Cheers Garith.
i would go with what everyone else said, all the specialists map the PFC\'s, not saying they cant map others but i have only heard of them mapping PFC so for that reason it might just be easier.

If you Buy a Motec they usaly come as a Kit (EMS, Loom etc) but saying that i\'ve never owned one so i could\'nt tell you for sure. But i know Microtechs Come with a Loom or a Plug and Play loom.

Nope, PFC is a Fuel Computer the Profect is a Boost Controler, PFC is just good for fuel, you can run your Boost of it but there crap for that, Profect B 2 is the daddy of Boost controlers, they are made for one Job... To control Boost.

If you use it all day every day your going to be able to map it better than an EMS that you have to read the Manual, At the end of the day its not the EMS its who is setting it up and the experiance they have with it.
This is why people like WGT/Reworx with there Rollers and people that are dedicated to setting RX7\'ns up get people travling 100\'s of miles to have there cars set up by some one in the no rather that risking there local tuner who does\'nt realy know what they are doing and may set your rotary up like a Boinger (OOOOp\'s sorry mate you need a new motor)

Hi Grizzly,
I can see what you are saying that a unit that does one thing is going to be more reliable than a multi task unit, But with the Profec E01 Linked to the Greedy E-Manage via a data cable you are able to Fuel Map, Air Map, Injector cycles and of course boost control & more all through the screen & control unit so would this not be a all in one package that can be adjusted to the different way you drive by changing the on board memory card with different settings mapped onto each.
Cheers Garith.
Yes but is the Greddy Fuel computer as good as the Apexi? I am not sure if they have split Ign timing on them? or OMP driver?
You don\'t need the OMP drive as the stock ECU still does that.
The eManage blue (which is the one that works with Profec E01) allows injector adjustment, but not ignition timing control for rotaries.
The eManage Ultimate allows much better control of Injectors, as well as seperate Ignition for leading and trailing. It also offers an A/F target map when used with wideband O2 sensor - you can set your desired target A/F for different load points and have the eManage tune the map for you. Pretty cool. :cool
It also offers support for additional sub injectors - upto 4 additional injectors, or you can use the channels to drive relays, solenoids, pumps etc.
You can also map out the MAF sensor completey, allowing a straight through pipe into your turbo\'s.
Down side is the Ultimate does not work directly with Profec E01.
I have an FC and will be using the Ultimate with a Profec B spec II boost controller. There are a few folks in the US who have got this to work - I aim to be one of the first in the UK.
Out of Intrest how much would the Ultimate go for? is it competitive?
Hi Grizzly,
The ultimate on ebay at the moment is £379 + £10 postage so it is about the same.
Hi Prof,
Shame about the ultimate not being compatable with the profec E01, Besides that you think this will be a good alternative to the PFC?
Cheers To all Garith.
Do you need to fit a Loom to use it?
It comes with harness and software for setting up for that price
Ok, So its abit like the Microtech Package, Who in the UK sets them up? or are you planning to do it yourself?
I dont know who will set it up definatly not me, the bloke who i got to fit the profec e01 and e-manage to my skyline probably. I will have to see but at the moment i have not made my mind up on what route to take just getting some insight into it all.
Cheers Garith.
I got my Ultimate and full harness for around £370 including import and what have you from the US. It even came with US English manuals as well as the Jap ones !
Seems easy enough to wire in, but you can also get a \'boomslang\' harness adapter that fits between your existing loom and ECU so you don\'t have to cut any wires - these are about £100 by the time you\'ve imported.
You also need to source a wideband O2 sensor and controller - the Innovate LC1 is a good match, and if your running higher boost levels, either the Greddy or GM 3 Bar MAP sensor - I got the GM one off ebay for about £40 including post.
You can run it as a datalogger only to get you started, and then as confidence levels rise, you can start tweeking the various maps. Since it\'s a \'pass thru\' device, the stock signals are fed through without change by default, so once you start mapping, you are adding or cutting fuel where required. It has a neat trick with injectors - upto 50% larger injectors can be mapped automatically with a couple of clicks - fuel cutting to match the original fuel levels. All the maps are additive - so adjustments made in any maps are all added together before being passed on to the injector/ignition.
You can also setup a staging rev limiter.
Latest is that you can now monitor knock signals as well - this wasn\'t working in the earlier firmware.
It\'s a lot more than a nice toy !
Is it a good replacement for PFC - time will tell - it\'s not as plug and play, but the interface is easy to use, and it\'s USB connector means it\'s modern laptop friendly.
Hi Prof,
Thanks for all your input. I am seriously considering this option i have found all the pieces excluding the boomslang harness for a few sheckles over 500 (fingers crossed on no more bidders) that includes the ultimate a profec b and the gm 3 bar sensor.
You can find the boomslangs here (http://www.nipponpower.com/product.phtml?p=779) - although I am not sure what wires they connect up.
I am going for mappable water injection and a possible 5th injector, so these harnesses are no good for me.
Thanks prof.
