I think totally stripped the engine weighs around 85kg. Not much at all, the 1 tonne would be fine mate

What i would say tho, when i took the last engine out the arm wasnt really long enough, as the engine sits quite far back, we had to remove the bumper and the strentgh beam thing and it was still a couple of inches short but just made do. So i would recommend getting one with a long reach:Thumbs-up

HTH

If their is a Machine Mart company near by, go in and get added to their mailing list (IE: Buy a screwdriver or something). They mail out VAT free days to people registered several times a year. I bought a 1 ton engine crane from them with all the VAT off earlier this year.

You may have problems getting it in the correct place, I had to remove my Bumper when i used a Normal engine lift, I have since bought an A frame with a Block nad tackle.

I can tell you how not to lift one out. ;) we tried lifting it out with a Bar and Two big chaps. Nope!!! None Starter, i nearly had an engine stuck through my Windscreen and the Big girls could\'nt hold it up high enough to clear the Ft pannel.

I would not recomend that way.

I second that - I used a big bar and 2 even bigger mates (think I was a token gesture!)  We did it but you really want to hire a craine - it just makes life sooooo much easier :yes

I have a engine hoist on long term loan , it has an extendable arm and at its limit its onlt just long enough to get the engine out , mind you that the easy bit as if the hoist is pulling the block away from the gear box it makes it easier to get it out , trying to put it back with the same hoist on your own isn\'t easy , lowering pushing above and pulling below isn\'t really a one man job unless your Mr Tickle or Stretch Armstrong :D

Best advise get a hoist with as long a reach as you can

Anyway ten minutes later and 6 lenths of 3"x2" he made an A frame (looks cool) i\'m going round tomorow so i\'ll get a Pic, its realy Simple.
