I am getting a lot of oil in my intercooler hoses, and when i hit high rpm get a cloud of smoke out the exhaust.
Is this because i don\'t have an oil catch tank? I have the filler neck connected to the upper inlet manifold as the standard was, and the vertical pipe is just blocked up? So is this causing my oil system to over-pressurize? And would it be sorted by an oil catch tank?
Simple answer mate is YES. Fit an oil catch tank and the problem goes away.:Thumbs-up
I had exactly the same Problem, Loads of Oil Knocking about, Smoke on Overrun etc it turned out i Nicked a Viton Oil control ring when i was building my Engine, They are quite tight and i was not a Happy Bunny When it happened.
But that did it all the Time from the second the Engine hit the Car, there was no time when it ran spot on without smoking (well until i put Mazda O rings in)
I know i have the oil control rings in the rotors. I can remember putting them in! :) I\'ll go with the catch tank idea! ;)
Yeh i remember putting mine in to ;) Out of intrest did you use a mazda Rebuild kit?
I\'ve just seen your Other post about the Oil restrictor for the Turbo? Did you get thet sorted? I know RB\'s don\'t like to much oil presure?
I used a Mazda rebuild kit, yeah. All purchased from Tim.
I had my oil breathers incorrectly setup (Blocked up!). Once i dropped one down near the front sub-frame, all was well. No smoke. Just took her to the highest rpm and boost i have had her since the rebuild - still not a huge amount at 6300rpm and 0.7bar, but seeing as though she doesn\'t have a 100% proper map, it aint bad.
Runs sweet as now! Well chuffed :D Just need to get her properly mapped finally. Might be an idea to sort a blow off valve at some point too! :p
Starting to see the benifits of a Single Turbo now ;)
