Title: Type R FD rear speaker pods...
Post by: RedRummy on November 10, 2006, 01:51:38 PM
Hi,

My Type R doesn\'t seem to have any rear speakers, and seem to have pockets where the rear speakers would go on other models.

Is there any chance there could be a couple of speaker pods hiding under the pockets, or will I ned to fit them...

OR...  should I just get better speakers in the front and do without the rears... my current (standard) front speakers are pretty crap.... don\'t really want to start messing about with amps and stuff, just want better sound...

Would I be better off getting better front speakers, or adding in some new rear speakers, or both  :xconfused

ta

Hi fella,

As I understand it a good simple system on a two door car revolves around a good set of front door speakers and a sub and amp.

You mentioned you didnt fancy the sub/amp, probably wise with no boot space, although prices are quite cheap these days.

Ideally go for a good component set (mid and tweeter), or good two way (both in one) if you dont fancy the hastle.

No real advantage with rear fill as far as im concerned, especially with no rear seats.

Good luck!

Chris :)

ok, great, thanks for the swift reply...

got any suggestions on good two way speakers?
(don\'t think I\'ve got any separate tweeters - should there be some as standard?)

Jon

You can get the mounting brackets (and speakers if you like) from Mazda for the rear pockets as I have pockets on mine and will be adding the two extra speakers at some point.

If you need the metal brackets for mounting speakers in I have mine sitting on the floor. PM me if you want them! I just removed my rear speakers for the reasons Chris gave :) Unfortunately I just sold the speakers that were sitting in them.

You will be needing some 6 X 8 inch speakers to fit in those metal brackets for the rear speakers. You also need the original mazda covers to cover them up.

ok, ta.

When I got my FD the front speakers and pods had been removed (prolly cos the last owner had some good ICE or something) and I managed to get original speakers and pods from RX:Heaven who had some lying around.

Worth trying some RX specialsit bods first, cos from Mazda they cost a bomb.

If you still have them I\'d be interested?
