I would seriously want to get a specialist to check that out before driving the car anymore, especially with a nice expensive single tub !!

Running too lean ??

That must be running lean to get that hot !

What does it Rev to when you start it ?

Is this an FC or FD ? - it looks like FC by the position of the lambda sensor

  Damn that is hot!!

I would hire a trailer and beg, borrow or steal a car with a towbar on it if you dont have one!

£30 for the trailer and could stop any damage done! :yes

(you will probably save more than that on fuel alone by not driving the rex there!)

The car is an FD and that probe is for the EGT gauge I think as it has one on the dash!!

ye that was the other day at idle just over 1000 rpm then settilling to just under 1000 after i let her run a bit at the mo im running off boost and tryin to keep revs low as a precaution  .as jono said that is a exhaust temp sensor that shows normal i will also point out that this not happen all the time that was the first time

Poss running really rich ??? if it runs too rich not all the fuel will get burnt and then burn in the turbo , is that right ??? but I would have thought the turbo would need to be hot to ignite it in the first place , other thing that pops to mind what about the timing being too retarded meaning the fuel is still burning in the turbo ???

Could possibly be talking complete balls though

Do you have a Cat fitted??? The only time i\'ve seen a Turbo do that with No Load on the Cat had Colapsed and was Cloging up the Exhaust.

I have seen  many many Turbo\'s and exhaust manifolds glow but never on tickover so Its either the above, which is possible, or an ECU fault,

Check the exhaust, the air filter and the intercooler system for restrictions as any of the three will cause this ( have you had it apart and left a piece of rag blocking something).

After this If its a TII  which it appears to be, and all is well disconnect the ECU, if it is a nightsports it may be a piggy back ECU on a stock ECU, if so unplug the thing immediately as its clearly not compatible or has malfunctioned .

If it is a stand alone ECU, take it off a put a stock Mazda ECU in its place as this will let you drive the car safely as the stock ECU

What ever is going on I wouldn\'t drive it any more untill you know what is going on.

Also is this is a standard car or modded if so what mods does this car have,??

Clive.... she is an FD with a single tuby!! the probe you can see is for the EGT gauge!!
It has a HKS IC mounted in a V-mount setup (with I think a stock rad) Stand alone knightsport ecu, full system from the turbo back... Not sure on cat though, as the air pump is still hooked up, cone filter, stock intake elbow.

There is a slight leak from the turbo return pipe, so I have sujested taking all the feeds to and from the turbo off (one at a time) to make shure they are all clear & the turbo is getting cooled and oild correctly!!

I would say thats nothing to do with oil/Coolant, If the Coolant was blocked it would get a Bit hotter but alot of Turbo\'s run a Dry core (i.e. no Coolant) and if the Oil feed was bad it would last Minutes before Blowing its Bearings.

Thats more of a fueling/Blockage problem, Seriously if the Turbo gaskets are showing signs of Blowing check the cat.
