Has anyone else\'s water tamp gauge went lower recently? Sits just below the middle in town, but when I get on the motorway etc it goes down to between a 1/4 and 1/2 way?!!? Is this cause scotland is freezing at the moment?!?:xconfused
Are you referring to the stock guage?? If so I dont think its a very good measure of the actual temp.
Probably best to get an aftermarket guage or commander and go by them.
yup the stock gauge is **** poor dont listen to it whatsoever, lol!.
Yea, mine was doing that aswell mate (down south west wales) Bimbling along my stock gauge was about 1/4 way up the stock one and on my after market one it was reading 160 degrees F!!! stop & let it idle for a bit and the temps came to around normal running temp 190 - 200 degrees F, move off again and in 5 mile it was back to 160!!!!!
went like hell though as the stock IC was actualy doing something ;)

That all sounds like over cooling, which isn\'t a great idea either. You may think, ooh, great, lower temps that\'ll be good for the engine. But in reality, an engine is designed to operate at a set temperature range, and should really stick to that range. Overcooling is usually because a thermostat is sticking open and therefore not regulating temps properly.
Thing is where my gauge probe is mounted I dont think it\'s getting an accurate reading so I\'m going to be moving it in the next few weeks when I go V-mount!!!

Getting a commander so will be able to check on that.
