Title: condensation
Post by: leggysrx7 on November 09, 2006, 04:25:26 PM
hi,

Quik question. Colder nights have now set in up in Sunny Scotland!! Question is that the FD seems to suffer from terrible condensation, mainly the back window but longer its left then the side windows and front suffer from condensation. Any ideas? Think i have have a leaky boot lid...

Its a leak in the boot lid, back window, or, most likely, its coming in where the spolier joins the boot lid.

Problem I find is if you open the boot when the car is wet, water pours off the sides of the bootlid and goes inside the car (poor design detail). I usually lift the boot lid slightly to allow most surplus water to run off before fully opening it. But I agree I get a fair bit of condensation in the damp wet weather - aircon soon clears it though:D

Just a tip-----if you put vasaline on the rubber seal it should solve the join problem. It\'s how they solve the leaking roof problem on the MR2.

Thats one awesome car!!! I\'ve sent you an email, i was looking for more pics and an estimate as to how much you\'ve spent changing from a standard car to that totally awesome show car??!!!

Trying to decide whether to buy a modified one or spend the money doing up our standard silver one (with condensation!)

I am guessing just all over the rubber seals to try "rejuvenate" them? Make em less crusty for a better seal against the car.

Never noticed you were from EK, I stay in strathaven... dont see many rx7\'s round these parts!

Are you the mate of the boy whos Dad, Alan Baird is a mechanic?? I use Alan for my Puma and his boy knows someone from Strathaven with an FD.

This is the second FD i\'ve owned. Sold my baby after buying a new house, but found this bargain (1K) and its co-owned by me and my mate.

Well I am still running jap tyres till I get my 106 back from KR tuning (he has taken it hostage for 6 weeks) and sell it to buy 18s, so the wet weather is a bit scary!!
