Just thourght that i would put on here ive just bought front and rear discs for my fd3 standard size with 40 groves with green stuff pads of a guy who advertised online.  They have just been fitted and give realy good improvement over normal brakes and im realy quite chuffed.  They have a 12month warrenty and are comparable with ebc or black diamond.

they retailed at the following prices
front discs £99.99
rear discs £119.99
front pads £59
rear pads £39

It was a tenner for delivery and these prices were all in.  I have asked if this is a regular price and he has confirmedif you want some details let me know and i will pass on!

Thread moved. A word of warning about the greenstuff pads they have a very bad reputation on fd\'s, no doubt Clive will be on later to fill you in more on them. If not send him a PM.

Hi Tommy and all,

Tommy hopefully you do have a good deal but beware, price isn\'t every thing when it comes to brakes.

If you do a search you will find lots about EBC and unless they have got there act together they really do not produce a good product that works on our cars, you either tend to get pads that are either cardboard or concrete depending on what they decide to put in the box that day and with the EBC disc\'s, I have seen them cracked and blue on FD\'s !!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Also guys be careful with non descript no name brake Disc\'s as I recently sold a set of disc\'s to a customer after he had only just renewed his Disc\'s.

He told the company exactly what trackday pads he was going to fit and actually ended up fitting a slightly less aggressive pad, the result was the Disc\'s just literally ground themselves away and destroyed his nice front wheels!, he now has Black Diamond  disc\'s on his car and is happy.

Yes we rate Hawks highly especially if your doing lots of track days ( we have a very good Hawk pad combination that works well on these cars) but if you want a real good pad with no dust then look no further than the new Mintex Xtream pads that we sell for £120 delivered to MRC members and this is for the Fronts and the Rears .

Have a look at this, Mintex even use an FD to promote their new product.

Hi Cally,

We are Tarox dealers but would rate the BD product a bit higher, also you will find that the DS2500 pad is quite poor for the road with not much cold stopping power if especially if your driving slowly ( I ran this pad on my FD when there was very little pad choice available)

BTW guys we are dealers for just about every major brake supplier including Pagid and Ferodo but not EBC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope this helps

You rate black diamond higher than tarox..... oh dear! Give me a set of g88\'s and some corsa+ over black diamond combi\'s and predator pads any day.

I think youl find the referance was to the DS 2500 pads and as I have tried these I am in complete agreement. Cack from cold.

Privately the Tarox rep tells us that the BD product does perform not only slightly better but also does not suffer from the squeal that Tarox disc\'s seem to suffer from due to the amount of grooves they run!

Clive, you say you\'re a Pagid dealer... Do pagid make pads for the FD? Their RS-14\'s were always an excellent compromise of road and track on my previous cars, loved \'em!

We have supplied Pagid ( damn expensive ) pads for BMW and the like in the past but I am pretty sure they dont have any pad shapes for our cars.

who at tarox tells you this? I dont believe for 1 minute that a rep for any product would say a cheaper brand performed better than their own.

Also doesnt the rx7  just run the same pad as early subarus meaning pretty much every manufacturer is likley to do pads?!

had ferrodo DS2500 on my evo squealed like hell not sure if was pads or brembo\'s that caused it ended up fitting some springs that helped

brembos tend to squeal no matter what pad you run in my experience.

Sorry I have had a look and Pagid don\'t make a pad shape for the RX-7 and I have also checked, no they don\'t cross over from any Suburu.

Phew, I just had to have a look to see if we had any Suburu parts were contaminating our cars, I can sleep easy now :Giggle :Giggle

Anyone have any experience of the Brembo discs sold by the likes of Gotham http://www.gothamracing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=100_443_107_318_717&products_id=555

I was considering it when I change my discs. I don\'t really like the idea of some dusty BD\'s mucking up my car! ;)

I\'m after some new front discs + pads.... so if these are any good, I\'ll get these too :)

PS - My front calipers say "MAZDA Sumitomo" on them... are these the original Mazda OEM ones?

Yup they are the FD standard. If you have a newer car (98 onwards) they are 17" disc huggers much better than the standard 16".

\'94 Type R i\'m afraid..

So I\'m gonna keep the calipers for now and just change the discs and pads...
