I need to remove the pilot bearing from the end of the eccentric shaft while the engine is still in!
I have had some tips from a few experts in the field, but i\'m still struggling. Its all broken up and the just the outer sleeve is left....
Does any one have any secret methods or tips on how to get it out.
Make your own with m10 rawl bolt and sliding hammer.
i did think about trying a hilti type bolt but i think whats left in there is beyond coming out complete. I think i will have to try and cut or grind it out but its made of some seriously hard stuff
Use heat like small gas touch until red and remove with sharp screwdriver chisher or the like!
will the heating the eccentric do any damage?
Smallest chisel you can get hold of and go in between the shell and eccentric shaft once the shell pops inwards you\'ll be able to pull it out with long nose plyers will only take a couple of minutes to remove this way and no damage. If you can\'t get hold of a small chisel then a srewdriver with the shaft running all the way through the handle will do the same job.

But a dremel with a fine cutting piece, run a grove along the length of the sleve - then collapse using a small chisel/hammer. Can be a BUGGER of a job! :)

That\'s what I told Tony on the phone ;)
Heat will work O/K with a welding torch and not damage the shaft.
Never had any luck Kevins way except for then having lots of dead chisels
( Sorry Kev)
cheers guys
i killed a couple of chisels already!!, will try the heat if it wont cause any damage
what kind of bit in the dremel will put a groove in it?
Trick is not to try to chisel the bearing shell but get the chisel to run between the eccentric shaft and bearing shell once its popped inwards then its easy to remove. I\'ve i little 5mm chisel that i\'ve shaped to the profile of the bearing that does the job no probs.

One that grinds away metal :2Confused
Sorry Tony couldn\'t resist it :rollin
If not a 9inch grinder with cutting blade should sort it!
Steel porting bits bud....:evillaugh :cool destroy it and yank it out......eccentric shaft material is very hard.....:2eek so dont be bothered about a mark or two as the outer shell of new bearing covers it !!!!!!!!:D :Typing
Should Clive and myself at it.heheheheheheheheheheheh:WaveBye

The shaft is far from hard, you can cut it with a hacksaw. The bearing case is hard, and the hole it goes into must stay perfectly unmarked, any burrs will push and deform the bearing. If you chisel it out you will be for ever trying to make the hole round again,I mean for ever! You need the proper puller, even if all the needles have gone, the puller will remove what\'s left, easily.

Oh! you are such a perfect princess....:wiggle :evillaugh :guinness :Hammer :cool :2Rolleyes
only problem is i have no lip left at the outside end of the casing?, does the puller grip the outer lip or the inner lip?, i think i still have some lip on the inner edge
anyone have a puller i could borrow?
Its easy, Not to sound Rough but i Distroyed mine with a Screw driver and a Hammer.
I tryed all sorts at first, things like getting a few Washers that just fit inside the bearing then put a Bolt through them and a Slide hammer on the end, that worked ok to a point then the Washers started to go out of Shape and it just slipped off, So i lost My Rag and hit it with a Hammer :)
