erm, decided to go on my mates private airfield late the other night to see what sort of speeds my rexy could get to....at around 140mph all was looking well when the speedo decided to die..it just went round to zero. As soon as I lifted off the gas it shot back round to where it should be again.
I thought it may have been a freak occurance but it did it again....after that I decided to panic and slowed down and limp it back home.
any idea whats going on? :wiggle
a tear in the space time continuum caused by the shock wave as you bolted down the runway...
undoubtedly.
^^^^Could be, but relativistic physics starts to get a little iffy as you approach those kinds of speeds and frankly we just don\'t know what goes on....nobody does!
Well, we do know that time slows down as you go faster.
all very good points...thanks guys haha
Probably competely unrelated but a couple of times I\'ve seen my speedo needle shoot right round to 180 when idleing in traffic then drop straight back to 0.
No idea why it did it but it\'s had no effect on the car to my knowledge.

Quite so and as you go faster, so your mass increases. I think what happened here is that your mass increased to the point where your power to weight ratio was effectively zero and hence you stopped. Couple this with some hallucinogenic affects caused by being subjected to such high speeds and I think it offers a plausible explaination for what happened...:2Confused
haha..hmm, so I take it nobody has a clue then....:(
does it have an electronic speedo convertor ... could be the electronics going out of range at that frquency and sending a duff signal to the speedo.
At that speed you shouldn\'t be watching the damn speedo  :Tongue1
Was it ok at 88mph though thats more important :Thumbsup!

I`m not sure what convertor the car has mate, ive only owned it about 4-5 weeks :(
Oh well, I doubt i`ll ever be going that fast again anyways so its not a biggie :Viking

Never say Never you will be.. :Laugh
Ive no idea but I wouldnt worry about it. Get yourself a PFC commander tells you everything you need to know.
well mine does the same every now and then at idle, just has its moment and then resumes as normal, pretty sure its the chip that converts it to MPH.
