Hi all, is it legal for mot and racing (i.e. drag, hill climb etc) to run fuel lines inside the car or outside the car.??? I have to run teh feed and return quite soon and am not sure on this.
cheers, michael.
yes but there are strict rules.
you should not have any part of the fuel system inside the passenger compartment. must be seperated by a fire proof bulkhead
No joints in the fuel lines inside the car
Fireproof glands passing through the bulkheads front or rear
Fuel lines must be either metal lines (we used copper and put them in tough industrial plastic conduit) or a metal overbraided line (be wary as some types of braided line are very slightly porous and allow some vapour to collect in the car .... there are specific types of hose to prevent this.
All the above is off the top of my head and correct to my knowlege you need to check the MSA blue book to be sure but HP fuel leak is not somthing you want to have inside the car !
Cheers Mike. Is there a down side to running them underneatht the car? Like is it against any racing regs?
only that it\'s easier to damage them, all the fuel and brake lines are inside the car on my rally prepped 323. Good job seeing as I\'ve squashed the chassis rail a couple of times :D

Is your heart pounding?:2eek
Best way to put the fuel hose is go under the car cos it\'s cooling the fuel!.
I using 8mm or3/8" rubber fuel hoses cos it\'s cheaper.
wow, look at the exhaust at the end !!!!!

Bugger I cant watch cips on my computer. :(
I have 2 lenghts of 8mm copper tube for the lines and will run them under the car.
