Title: Wheel dilemma - what do you think?
Post by: moosey on October 30, 2006, 03:59:12 PM
Hey guys, I\'ll hopefully be getting my yellow rex in about a month
depending on how long it takes Carl to find some black piping to go
with the rest of the engine!
Anyway I\'m thinking already of changing the wheels and I\'m lookin
at these Ultralite ones,
http://www.ultralitewheels.co.uk/WP-789-A-TEC.html

I\'ve done a few photoshop efforts to see what they\'re gonna look
like on a Yellow FD.
Just let me know what you think of the bronze wheelsd with the
yellow car.

personall i would go with a satin black wheel to match in with the font splitter and trims... would look awsome with black rims...

i think your on the money with the style tho

I was thinking of going down that road alright but I just think the Black
is too dark and you don\'t really get to see any detail of the wheels.
It\'s a tough one.
I was going to go for black for exactly the reasons you said. I\'m putting
a 99 spec spoiler on the back with the wing part painted black and the
mounts in yellow. Black wheels would complete the look but I\'ve been
trying out options on Gran Turismo and I\'ve kinda fallen for the Bronze.
Cheers for the feedack though.

Cheers for the photos mate. They\'re great.
I\'ll try and edit your car to my colour for comparison
but the side on shot is perfect for my photoshopping.
Cheers.

A couple of other photoshop options

Call me boring, but the last picture would be my choice.  Good old plain silver!

Yep, Out of those Defo the Silver in 18" would look the best. maybe a set of these would set it off a bit better though ;)

Well in order,
Cheers Rob, that\'s what I wanted to hear!

Gurj, I like the rims in the second pic but gold won\'t work with yellow I think

TRex, I dunno mate, I love your wheels and the front end but I\'ve always thought
FD\'s were beautiful enough the way Mazda created them!

And Grizzly, I was down in Extreme in Harlow the other day and they have 2 Fd\'s
in the showroom at the mo and one has rims just like the ones in your pic.
Looked great on a Black car butthe trouble wiht mine is it\'s completely colour
coded inside out and that\'s why I was lookin at black or at least darker wheels
to keep it goin.

Thanks for your input guys.

I did another photoshop effort with the pics Shaun posted
what do we we think?

Also looking at Work XT7\'s as seen on wheelmania.
Phoned these guys and they say 375 a wheel.
Looked on Ebay and could get a full set form Japan for around 600 plus 150 shipping.
Could get stung for the import tax but interesting none the less.

indeed I do Rob,
what do you think of the Work XT7\'s
similar but the spokes go all the way to the rim edge.

Dunno about white,
I\'ll see if I can russle up a photoshop effort to have a look.

Right, here we go
(http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/4282/yellowonwhites001if1.jpg)

Dunno TRex, kinda like the darker wheels. Especially as the whole car is colour
coded black and yellow. That\'s why I was originally lookin at black wheels but
have come to the conclusion they just look too dark.

black every time! don\'t suppose you fancy some black re-a mirrors to blend in with the windows!? i am after some standard yellow ones.
Title: Wheel dilemma - what do you think?
Post by: moosey on November 08, 2006, 10:23:37 PM
Dunno, you have some pics, do they wire up to the electrics of the standard mirrors.
I\'d have to have the bodywork done too to fill the holes left by the standard ones.
Sounds like hassle to be honest mate!

they do wire up, and they cover the standard holes!

my car has the opposite colour coding to yours.

Hmmm, not for me mate. Sorry.
I like the standard look better.
You actually want to put yellow mirrors on yours?
I think it looks sweet the way it is, those mirrors compliment the bodykit.

Dude, what happened to the wheels that car had on it? I saw it up at carls workshop a few weeks ago and it looked awesome with the wheels it had!!

They\'ll be put up for sale most likely unless I come to an agreement with Carl.
Yeah they\'re nice wheels but I would prefer something darker.

Spokes that go to the edges always make the wheels look bigger than they are - these are nice!
Title: Wheel dilemma - what do you think?
Post by: moosey on November 10, 2006, 08:00:33 PM
Yeah I think they\'re great.
Problem is the price. Wheelmania quoted me £350 a rim (no tyre)
Waiting for another quote from  Whifbitz but the guy reckons
around £1650 for 4X18\'s plus tyres which is similar money.
The thing is this ebay store
http://stores.ebay.com/JPS-Trading-Limited_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQfsubZQ2d33QQftidZ2QQtZkm (http://stores.ebay.com/JPS-Trading-Limited_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQfsubZQ2d33QQftidZ2QQtZkm)
is selling 4X 18\'s for US $1,110.92 which is around £700
Ok Shipping is another $400 and you run the risk of import tax.

I really like them but I don\'t know if they\'re worth the extra money over the Ultralites.

That\'s your call mate, only you know what you can afford.

I wanted one of those CF Feed style bonnets but just can\'t justify eating beans on toast for the next 6 months!

I know I know.
Maybe I\'ll ask my girlfriend to buy me a tyre instead of a PSP for Christmas!:Thumbs-up
