Title: Oil smells of Petrol?
Post by: onelastpost on October 28, 2006, 06:41:53 PM
Hi guys

I did my first oil change today, went pretty well except for removing oil filter, that was a bitch!

I noticed that there was a strong smell of petrol in the oil, is this normal?

I want to do the fuel filter, air filter, brake, clutch and gearbox fluid. Anyone nearby want to give me a hand? !!!  :Thumbs-up

Thats why you need to change the Oil more on a Rotary than a Piston engine.

They tend to get Contaminated with fuel Thinning the Oil.

True, also on the FD, many have twin oil coolers which contain a good percentage of the oil and it doesn\'t get drained or replaced when you do an oil change, another reason to do it as often as you can afford.
