Title: Hose/Pipe size\'s .
Post by: Sy. on October 27, 2006, 04:01:10 PM
Just a question incase anyone knows or done it before but does anyone know all the pipe sizes and lenghts for a fd standard Twin engine. I am looking to get all silicone hose/pipe\'s for the engine .
e.g. 3mm x 4meters , 50mm x 30cm ,  2 x 90 degrees 30mm etc .

i could measure them all myself but no harm in asking. :Thumbs-up

Since I\'ve just been looking at this I think it\'s the following for the vacuum pipes:

30ftx3.5mm
16ftx4mm
15ftx6mm
4ftx8mm

or something....there\'s a viton bulk buy going on on rx7club which I\'ve just joined :)

Viton is only Available in Black. I did a bit of looking into the subject, I would sugest you use Good quality Pipe (You don\'t want to be doing this twice).

I have used Both Silicone and Viton and i have to say i prefer the Viton. I bought it from RxMotors and its spot on, It fits well and unlike i was told it does\'nt slide off when there is Presure going through them. (Trust me when they are on thay Aint comeing back off) i used Zip ties to add a bit of Peice of Mind but you realy Don\'t need them.

I was told to Buy 4 meters of small vac hose but unless i did some that wern\'t needed i ended up using 5 and a bit Meters.

Ring Rxmotors and talk to them, they will suply you with Viton Hose its Miles better than Silicone, I found it does\'nt go Hard with prelonged Heat and the Fit is better with Viton. But you don\'t get the Nice Colours ;)

The rx7club is for absolutely all the hoses. They used to do 40ft (~13m) of the 3.5mm but now do 30ft (~10m) as people had said it was too much :)

Is it Viton? I know Speedmachine do all the correct Size Viton and TBH i\'ve not asked if you can get the Other sizes of Rxmotors becouse i already had the bigger Turbo Vac pipes (Could\'nt get the correct wall thickness Viton in the smaller bore)

One of the reasons i don\'t like Silicone is how easy it Cuts, the Viton is a pain in the rear to cut to leanths and it makes me think if a pipe is caught or rubs against some thing will it be damaged and with the Silicone i would say it would be damaged (the Stuff i got from the US you could nick it with your fingure nails)

Do you have the Link for the GB?

Just found it, £150 + postage + Vat and tax thats a little steep? i paid £40 for all the 3.5mm i needed and £20 for all the 6mm.

Guess it depends on the quality...and if you read through that thread, because it says viton doesn\'t mean it\'s 100% viton.

Another place I found in the UK was waaaaaaay more expensive than the US group buy...this is a place that does industrial quality stuff so wonder what the stuff rxmotors sell is like? Especially since those prices are cheaper than good silicone stuff?

Yep, Sounds about right, Everywhere i looked it was silly Expencive if you did\'nt buy in big Amounts.

I also found the Wall thickness of the Pipe also Determins the Price (The cheap stuff is usaly quite thin)

Good info on here .
Viton pipes do sound good if they are nice and thick .
