Title: Injector Cleaning?
Post by: Lum on October 23, 2006, 08:34:31 PM
Was out at the weekend in the FD and ended up in a bit of a race with a ferrari 360! After a fairly fast stint along the motorway i noticed my max inj duty on the power FC had hit 98%!
I\'m guessing this is pretty bad for the engine?
My current mods are:
Blitz Twin filters
Blitz nur-spec CAT back
De-cat
Power FC (just been mapped)
Does this mean i need bigger injectors or will a clean and test be worthwhile?
If so anybody know where i can get this done in the bristol area and is it difficult to remove the injectors myself?
Thanks:Thumbsup!

For the mean time maybe turn the boost down a bit so your injector duty will drop, then sort out some extra fuelling :)

What boost are you running at the mo?

Running 0.9 bar.
Thats the first time the duty has ever gone anywhere near that high. Usually less than 90% max even on a flat out blast!

I know what you mean, I was running the same and 90 was normally max (like you say on full boost flat out runs!) , but on odd occasion a very high one would pop up

Are you still running a similar setup now?
Have you added extra fueling?
To be honest it would have been worth blowing the engine up anyway! The look on the ferrari drivers face was mint when i matched his accelleration and he realised he couldn\'t pass me! Looked genuinely upset!:Laugh :Laugh :Laugh

lol

No im not running at the moment, my first job when I start doing it up though is likely to be fuelling so I can run a bit more boost, and to use current level of boost safely

Fit a Bigger Pump and a Fuel Regulator and up your Rail Pressure.

It won\'t do any Harm getting the Injectors cleaned but its not a Nice job to do. WGT do Injector Cleaning, they will also tell you what they Flow and there Condition etc. Don\'t forget to Change your Fuel Filter once a year too.

You really don\'t want to see any more than 85% duty to be on the safe side.
