Can anyone tell me if it\'s possible to register FD 2.6 as 1300cc?. I heard rumours that it\'s possible if imported. So want to clear the issue up. If so how to go about it best?.
Quote: there is a right and wrong answer. the rotary isn\'t a 2 stroke, it has 4 distinct cycles.
It\'s a 1300CC displacement motor, 2600CC is the capacity. if you want to be technical, a 2600cc piston motor is technically a 1300cc.
Also anyone be able to tell me on average how much the insurance would be for a 22 year old with 0 years no claims?.
Thank you in advance for your replies guys
Do a search, you\'ll be reading for days :)
Insure it as a 2600. Don\'t give an insurer ANY reason to avoid paying a claim. Search for "Highway Insurance" here and see how they will pick up on anything to avoid paying.

Well the thing is It will hardly spend any time on the road as It\'ll be like my next project car. After since I sold my DC2 Type R. I was thinking if it would be benefitable in any case if It\'s possible to insure as 1.3??
Doesnt matter if you insure it as a 5 litre the insurance will still be the same coz you insuring an RX-7 which is a group 20 car.
The only reason to register as a 1.3 , as many have done is so you pay the lower band in tax.
At your age your going to be paying quite a bit, however if its not a daily driver you could have a limited mileage policy to cut costs. I think you need to be 21 for a classic policy but when you reach that magic age you could get a ten year old car on a classic policy whihc can work out a lot cheaper than a standard insurance policy.

Well I\'ll be hitting 23 soon. But does classic car insurance policies cover modifications? Sounds intriguing.
Sorry misread the original post :3Confused
Yeah classic policies allow for mods although check with the insurer obviously, I was with Hougton but switched to Aon after my premium went up.

that\'s cool. I guess I should start shortlisting insurance companies. Anyone with recommends for a good cheaper insurance provider please let me know. Thnks in advance.

just to add a bit, I had several letters back and forth with DVLA and they will now start classing the FD as a 2600 on the log books. All insurers class it as a 2600cc so therefor the tax is for a 2600.. Lots of people claim they get it taxed as a 1300 and it enoys me when there is a rule for one and one for others. Mine is taxed as a 2600 as that is what it states on the log book. If u have 1300 on the logbook then you are quids.
mine is 1300 on the log book :D
Mine says 652cc in my log book, lol
Mine is registered as a 2616cc... But at the end of the day, it goes like a 2.6 TT, it drink petrol like a 8L, so IMHO it\'s fair enough pay that bit more road tax per year to cover these facts...
I know the g\'ment isn\'t the greatest when it comes to spending our taxes wisely but the principle is that some of this goes to green power... If you were driving a 1.3 you\'d be paying a hell of a lot less in petrol that\'s for sure!!!
Just MHO ;)
My log book says 1300cc, cheap tax! which is the ONLY cheap thing about owning a Rex
When i tried confused.com to get some quotes it has it down as 2354cc engine
Couldn\'t find it for ages as the way you find your specific car without the reg number is by the engine cc :Yawn

thats for an FC mate, there should be an option for something classed above 2600.
best to get it right to be safe (i know because i think mine is wrong)
FC ? whats that?(sorry, i\'m new) It said type r turbo \'92 - \'95
thats odd? an fc is a second Gen rx7 yours is a 3rd gen.
2nd gens are normally 2413 or 2354cc i think, but Fd\'s or 3rd gens are normally above 2600cc if that company will insure it.
jap and uk makes a difference too so i found that somtimes online quotes were thrown out by the companies if i called to confirm, as some in the payment stages online said - unexpected error please call or something to that effect
ok thanks, if i got a serious quote if i was about to buy one i\'d have to call to confirm it.. althought i\'d probably go with A-Plan anyway they rock
i would say try to get an agreed value policy too if possible with like for like on mods as that is what i hope to do soon.
good luck mate and make sure to tell us the outcome.... oh and show us the car.
