picked it up today, very fast, about 320bhp, full veilside bodykit, not bad seen i drove a 1.0 corsa, now i\'m driving a type r twin turbo. insurance cost me 2,500 pounds, i didn\'t think it was bad as i\'m only 20 with 2 no claims. i\'ll post some pictures tomorrow.
2.5K for insurance - WOW
i really couldnt spend that on insurance
but hey - if you are happy with your car then hats off to ya
welcome to MRC and i hope you have many trouble free miles of motoring :D

Please be careful with her, thats one hell of a lot of power in this cold wet weather !!
Take your time to get used to her and enjoy !!
Nice one :chat
Second that.
Take it easy mate. Fd\'s don\'t forgive when its wet and cold.
No offence but i think its daft going from a 1.0L Corsa thats hard pushed to get to 70mph to a rwd car that does is in sub 5 sec!!!
Smoothly does it, especially with a car this powerful...
But 2.5k for inswearance alone? That\'s dedication!
I went straight from a saxo vts to my rex, and I bought it in winter. It\'s not that bad, you\'ve just got to use some common sense. :burnout
Drive it like you stole it bro !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:evillaugh

Amen to that, one of the rare cases when jap is crap
welcome take note of comments about being careful and dont become one of those that loses it in the wet or insurance will rocket even higher.
most of all enjoy it when the weather is right, look forward to pics
2.5k for insurance, jesus I paid about £1800 in my first year of rex ownership when I was 22, I thought that was a lot ! Thankfully it dropped by about a third each subsequent year.
Enjoy mate, don\'t let you next post be "Anyone know a good body shop"
:)
Have a read on the \'Winter warning\' thread..................:Typing
I went from a Corsa 1.2 to my FD. I also had J-rubber on it and had no problems (although I did notice the difference when I got better tyres)
I got mine in may so when winter came around I knew how hard I could push it.
Just gotta respect it that\'s all
£2500 on insurance is crazy though. I think if I paid that much I\'d cover it in bubble-wrap
was told that , when its warm weather only one turbo works, when its Cold, both turbos work,
so if u take the same corner in the winter, you can spin.??
True or Myth. ???

What? There in nothing to do with the turbo\'s that is conrolled be warm or cold days.
Al
MYTH !!!
first turbo spools at say 2K , then the second one comes in at say 4K
or something like that :D
Stu
My first turbo spools up in autumn and the second in winter!!!! :rollin
Total Myth.
Lets have some pics!

Thats good :yes, I take it you\'ve not driven an FD in the wet/Cold :) You plant your Right foot you WILL be facing the wrong way.

The only way to get an answer to that question, is to go to your local mechanics workshop and ask them for a long weight.
Let us know what happens..
Congrats on getting the Rex,
Comiserations on the insurance cost,
And for all that is good and holy BE CAREFUL!!!!!
I technically went from a 1.4 corsa to an RX, although there was a long gap in between, and I managed to stuff the RX into a wall quite comfortably, and it wasn\'t even wet! Mine had 275rwhp so if yours is around 320 please please please dont try anything even slightly ballsy until the weather warms up, and even then, er, dont try it anyway! Just imagine the pedal on the right is called the \'spin\' pedal, only press it when you are going in a straight line and then only the wheels will spin instead of the whole car. :)
Have fun but just keep it alive until the spring!
(do you think i\'ve got the point across?)
To sum it up driving an FD in cold,Wet or Snow is like this V

I know where they are, they are next to the left handed screwdrivers.
Nar there near the Sky hooks, just the other side of the Spirit level Bubbles.

Welcome to the forum! Nice to see another 20 year old willing to be shafted by the insurance companies :p
It cant be said enough - be careful and take your time to get used to the car.
Apart from that - enjoy!
Mate im only 21 now and got my first FD nearly 4 years ago now...but i came from a host of fast rwd\'s to begin with...
You had an rx7 at 17?!?! I would have been dead before my 18th birthday!!
How on earth did you get Insured on an FD as a First car at 17?????
Hehe had a well paid job, also the only cars i had been driving were 2.8L-5.5L...i went through a host of different insurers and ended up paying near £6k to be able to drive all the cars on the drive...atm i still pay £2200 and thats with 2yncb! So how you guys get away with sh!t cheap prices i dont understand!

Amen brother!! Mines not too far below the £3k mark right now - and that was brokered through a friend in the industry. Insured at 17 though - fair play :Thumbsup!
