Title: Bought a white T2 Coupe
Post by: ramirez on October 21, 2006, 06:03:27 PM
Hi chaps,

Got a new T2 - its this one from ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=001&item=110042907953&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Just had one thing to ask - have I paid too much for it (£2040,) do you think?, In hindsight im a little worried that the 68k on a rebuilt engine might not last as long as I first thought (even though it runs fine.) There was rust underneath buts it all been professionally removed so i\'m not too worried about the chassis giving up.

It does have a lot of aftermarket parts mind you!

Anyway, happy to be back in a T2!!

Hmm. It does look good and the bodywork certainly adds a lot of value to one of these cars as they can be pretty grotty. This one does look rather nice and clean... And as grinder says, it\'s got a nice bundle of aftermarket bits on it.

The only little tidbit that sends alarm bells ringing with me is the idle speed - normally I\'d expect to raise the idle to get around the fact that the engine doesn\'t want to idle at its usual rpm, which to mean means it\'s heading for rebuild central...

All in all it looks like it\'s a car worth saving.

yep I was thinking the same re: the idle speed - however apparently this is getting sorted before i pick the car up on thursday (idle control valve or throttle cable being fixed.) So I guess i\'ll know better by then if its idling rough.

thanks all, even if it does need rebuilding in the next year or so I guess ive got a good base to work from for it.
