I`ve recently fitted a straight through exhaust system onto my car, and since then the car has been popping and banging a lot at around 2k rpm when I lift off, just when im cruising along.
I figured the car was overfuelling a lot and had the power FC remapped asap at WGT, but the car is STILL popping and banging a lot. Its actually a little bit embarassing, I bet people think the car is backfiring.
Does anybody else`s rex do this?...

Its just the unburnt fuel in the exhaust. As you have straight through exhaust now there is nothing stopping the unburnt fuel from getting through
Just out of interest, my standard ecu rebuilt 12k ago, does not pop or bang at all! but i think they are known for it,

mine does it regularly when lifting off - adds to the appeal of an RX :Giggle

I\'ve noticed mine does it more with a decat fitted. It did pop a bit with the Cat on but it was more toned down than the noise it makes now.

Mine does it when it\'s cold all the time on over run!! and now and again when I change gear at about 3K

mine does it too, if i ease off the loud pedal gently it doesnt seem to do it as much.
check your battery contacts too, it pops less since i sorted out a slightly loose terminal...
rotors have to run pretty rich, so your never going to fully eliminate the problem.
ok thanks for the reply`s guys, it never banged at all until I fitted the exhaust.
Its quite appealing but sometimes it can get a tad annoying.
mine does about 2-3k when lifting off i love it! scared the sh**e out of me the first time i was driving i thought some thing had dropped off:)
mine does it around 2-3k and when i push it hard -to around 7k- it sometimes spits flames:Laugh

I have to say i love it! As it has been said before it just adds to the appeal of these cars, it\'s more frequent on mine in the cold, but it usually calms down after 10 mins or so, unless driving spiritidly(sp?) and then she pops and bangs like a bad drummer, get flames too! WOO HOO!
I get lots of popping and banging, mildly when the cars cold and loud when everythings warmed up and I\'m giving it some...and I have a Knight Sports high-flow cat fitted :Laugh

Mine makes a slighty muffed popping noise when I take my foot of the accelerate in low gears and a looooooooooooooovely pop noise when giving it some along the main road, just before the lovely flame appears out the back ( which I\'ve yet 2 see).. :)
I would be more worried if it didnt make it :)

That truck is awesome...its a good job you live so far away otherwise you may drive straight over the rex and not even notice it haha. Hope you get it sorted.
yup mines pops n bangs like a 90\'s techno tune,lol!.the exhaust u choose seems 2 make aloota difference tho as i get it alot less with my new kakimoto fitted.
